Your Opportunity

Our Traffic Engineering and Transportation Planning group provides comprehensive planning, design, and engineering services. As an experienced transportation planner, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of planning and design projects as a team member working under general supervision of a more senior planner or engineer. Provides immediate supervision and guidance to a unit or group of employees, assigning tasks, checking work at frequent intervals for accuracy and completeness, and maintaining schedules. The ideal candidate has the ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgement, creativity, and innovation including effective coordination of internal and external constituents, demonstrated experience on various planning and engineering projects, effective meeting facilitation skills and strong knowledge of regulatory requirements.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting and coordinating the technical aspects of assigned projects

  • Conducts environmental and transportation planning analyses

  • Obtains traffic, GIS and land use data, prepares technical reports, performs calculations, and conducts various transportation studies

  • Coordinates with clients, regulatory/resource agencies, and local governments. This includes meeting facilitation

  • Provides quality assurance and quality control for all final products to ensure technical accurateness and regulatory compliance

  • Assists in coordinating with clients/consultants in resolving technical project issues, presenting reports and designs, and providing service to meet client's goals

  • Performs due diligence and research on projects as required to provide the background information to start a new project

  • Assists with the preparation of proposals, project reporting and other marketing endeavors

  • Works within defined project scopes, budgets and schedules. This includes financial project oversight (i.e., invoicing, project Work Plans, and Accounts Receivable)

  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation

  • Experience working on engineering and planning projects

  • Strong knowledge of State and municipal legal requirements, and design/planning procedures in relevant jurisdictions

  • Good technical writing skills; capable of creating reports, letters and specifications as well as oral communication

  • Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the team

  • Knowledge and experience using GIS

  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite

  • Experience with 3-D Modeling and graphic presentation preferred

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Planning, Engineering, Environmental or related field

  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification and/or P.E. strongly desired

  • Minimum of 5-6 years of experience performing analysis, consulting, and providing recommendations for various types of clients

Typical office environment working with computers. Some travel may be required to meet with reviewing agencies or clients and to attend meetings or proposal interviews. May occasionally visit study areas, construction sites and/or be exposed to outside elements and inclement weather conditions.

Responsible for continuous improvement activities between Univar and logistics provider. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: * Manage the movement of inbound bulk and package carriers, outbound bulk, third party, and CIBT and IBT products to meet customer requirements utilizing a TMS platform * Implements the regional logistic planning process in conjunction with logistic provider * Handles all communication between internal parties and logistics provider and addresses and resolves issues to meet customer requirements and needs. * Adheres to the freight escalation process, ensuring escalating freight costs are communicated to the appropriate customer service and commercial teams. * Analyzes and interprets logistic reports and recommends efficiency and/or corrective solutions. * Addresses and recommends alternatives for all 3rd party logistic expediting requirements for Purchasing and Sales. * Assists in responding to all regional logistic quality and customer service requirements and determines appropriate actions. * Coordinates all regional rate requests from sales and marketing to include receiving, obtaining and providing rate information. * Resolves regional freight claim issues to ensure customer satisfaction. * Manages and execute efficiencies within OTM * Strong knowledge of company policy and ensures consistent application. Specialized Knowledge/Skills: * Solid knowledge of logistics purchasing, processes, and functions * Good organizational skills * Solid technical skills used to improve internal processes, communication, and customer service levels * Sound OTM system knowledge * Strong ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with teams inside and outside of transportation * High level of empowerment, ownership and accountability * Demonstrated decision making ability * Sound ability to analyze information, situation and use sound judgment in determining correct course of action.
