Our Traffic Engineering and Transportation Planning group provides comprehensive planning, design, and engineering services. As an experienced transportation planner, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of planning and design projects as a team member working under general supervision of a more senior planner or engineer. Provides immediate supervision and guidance to a unit or group of employees, assigning tasks, checking work at frequent intervals for accuracy and completeness, and maintaining schedules. The ideal candidate has the ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgement, creativity, and innovation including effective coordination of internal and external constituents, demonstrated experience on various planning and engineering projects, effective meeting facilitation skills and strong knowledge of regulatory requirements.
Your Key Responsibilities
Responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting and coordinating the technical aspects of assigned projects
Conducts environmental and transportation planning analyses
Obtains traffic, GIS and land use data, prepares technical reports, performs calculations, and conducts various transportation studies
Coordinates with clients, regulatory/resource agencies, and local governments. This includes meeting facilitation
Provides quality assurance and quality control for all final products to ensure technical accurateness and regulatory compliance
Assists in coordinating with clients/consultants in resolving technical project issues, presenting reports and designs, and providing service to meet client's goals
Performs due diligence and research on projects as required to provide the background information to start a new project
Assists with the preparation of proposals, project reporting and other marketing endeavors
Works within defined project scopes, budgets and schedules. This includes financial project oversight (i.e., invoicing, project Work Plans, and Accounts Receivable)
Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation
Experience working on engineering and planning projects
Strong knowledge of State and municipal legal requirements, and design/planning procedures in relevant jurisdictions
Good technical writing skills; capable of creating reports, letters and specifications as well as oral communication
Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the team
Knowledge and experience using GIS
Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite
Experience with 3-D Modeling and graphic presentation preferred
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Planning, Engineering, Environmental or related field
American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification and/or P.E. strongly desired
Minimum of 5-6 years of experience performing analysis, consulting, and providing recommendations for various types of clients
Typical office environment working with computers. Some travel may be required to meet with reviewing agencies or clients and to attend meetings or proposal interviews. May occasionally visit study areas, construction sites and/or be exposed to outside elements and inclement weather conditions.
