Jacobs is seeking a planning professional to support the Albuquerque and National Transportation Safety Group.

In this role, the candidate will support the Buildings, Infrastructure, and Advanced Facilities Group in Transportation and work with senior engineers and planners on complex transportation projects, particularly in transportation safety. Included will be the conduct of safety studies and analysis, reviewing policy and providing direction and support to assist in saving lives on New Mexico roadways.

A candidate should have an understanding of report preparation, data analysis , and be interested in applying transportation planning considerations to safety and design projects. Other key skills include knowledge of technical memo preparation, the use of databases, analysis tools, and GIS. The individual should have a desire to grow both professionally as well as personally with each planning career opportunity that this position will provide.

  • Bachelor's degree is required

  • Master's Degree in Urban Planning/Geography/, Transportation Planning, landscape architecture, engineering or comparable degree is preferred

  • At least one previous summer planning or design internship is desired.

  • Work experience related to transportation, or highway safety, or traffic is a plus.

  • AICP Certification or work towards attaining it is a plus

  • Experience in the preparation of planning studies and technical analysis, alternatives analyses, and public outreach programs.

  • Experience working with federal, state and local government agencies is a plus.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team of professionals

  • Knowledge of NMDOT Project Development Guidelines (planning and design) is a plus

  • Strong technical writing and verbal skills

  • Ability to create high quality graphic reports and presentations

  • Ability to analyze data utilizing spread sheets and data base software
