Job Title: Transportation Manager

Responsible and accountable for the business unit level support and leadership as it relates to the companys distribution capabilities, delivery cost, and management of all business unit transport driver personnel. Management oversight includes the daily functions of all transport drivers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide resources and guidance to all transport employees as it relates to department profitability, efficiencies, fleet repairs, quality of fleet, and DOT compliance.
Direct and coordinate activities of transport drivers to insure a maximum performance relative to products and delivery, service, and customer relations.
Analyze and adjust routes to insure proper coverage for existing/new customers and seasonal demand.
Partnering with Fleet Manager and Distribution Manager, assist with managing processes to insure the business unit has a viable and well maintained fleet, develop fleet replacement cycles, capital requirements, and priorities of asset redeployment.
Build a high achieving transport driver team capable of sustaining the companys profitability, goals, and vision.
Develop and maintain a positive, productive relationship with supply chain leadership team.
Benchmark and set targets for overall transport function performance and personnel.
Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, identify and implement opportunities to improve processes.
Partner with all functional departments to ensure meeting business unit and company safety, service, cost, and people goals.
Comply with and enforce all company work and safety rules and regulatory compliance rules and regulations.
Use and enforce use of all personal protective equipment in compliance with OSHA regulations.

Associates degree in related discipline required, Bachelors degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years significant, direct, and practical Transport Management experience in food/beverage, consumer products, or manufacturing industry utilizing DSD delivery model required.
Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodology, highly preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to build consensus and foster positive relationships in order to drive company strategy and efficient methods in achieving the lowest landed cost possible.
Capacity to solve problems through creative, innovative solutions and challenge traditional methods of accomplishing tasks and removing obstacles.
Ability to analyze and interpret complex sets of data and make business recommendations based on analysis.
Advanced knowledge and experience with capital and working budgets, P&L, DOT compliance, and fleet optimization required.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and in a variety of cultures.
Must be able to frequently stand, walk, kneel, reach, climb, pull, and bend with full range of body motion.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must have a Class A commercial drivers license with Air Brake endorsement (must also possess a valid Medical Examiners Certificate in accordance with FMCSA Part 391.41 prior to operating a commercial motor vehicle for Borden Dairy Company).
Must be able to work in hot and cold climates, both indoors and outdoors and on refrigerated trucks.
English is the primary language skill; however, bilingual skills may be beneficial based on business necessity.
