You will perform a variety of manual laboring duties and operate equipment used for construction and maintenance work. You will also plow snow, make minor repairs to equipment, and provide preventive maintenance for the trucks and equipment, in addition to other duties as necessary.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.

  • Work hours are 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

  • Travel, overtime, and dual shifts may be required based upon operational needs, especially during snow emergencies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee Program; or

  • Graduation from a Commercial Driver's License Training School; or

  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Necessary Special Requirements:

  • Must possessa valid Pennsylvania Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License with the Air Brake Restriction (L) removed.

  • Must possessa valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.

Conditions of Employment:

  • All employees must obtain an active certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in the operation of heavy trucks and loaders within the probationary period.

  • Employees may be required to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications necessary to operate specific pieces of equipment.

  • Certain positions require operation of vehicles or equipment with a manual transmission.

  • This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.

Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

If you're a Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic who finds a sense of fulfillment in repair and maintenance, apply today!Diesel Mechanics perform repairs and maintenance on various pieces of PennDOT equipment and diesel powered vehicles, including heavy trucks weighing 26,001 pounds or greater, graders, backhoes, front end loaders, etc. The ideal candidate is a licensed and trained automotive and heavy equipment mechanic that performs a variety of analytical, preventative maintenance, and repair duties for a fleet of construction equipment, trucks, automobiles, and hand tools. The equipment is powered by gasoline or diesel engines. The Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and servicing of our fleet and equipment to perform these operations and services, directly resulting in public safety.</p><p>Work Schedule and Additional Information:</p><ul><li><p>Full-time employment.</p></li><li><p>Work hours are 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.</p></li><li><p>May require travel, overtime and dual shifts.
