Transportation Engineer 3

Job Description

Under general supervision, develops large scale projects such as highways, tunnels, mass transit and aviation engineering designs of basic to moderate complexity to meet client project requirements. Reviews draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations.

Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs. Performs site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications. Updates design requirements as necessary.

Inspects new construction and existing transportation structures as necessary. Contributes to firm's TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc. Submits technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.

Attends conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff. Performs other duties as required. Provides technical guidance and training to more junior staff. Reviews the work of more junior staff.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline. 3 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in roadway design projects for state and municipal clients.

Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microstation, or OpenRoads Designer.

Experience delivering a roadway or traffic signal design project from initiation through final design.

Ability to present in front of and work within a large group

Strong communication and technical writing skills.

Experience completing hydraulic analysis of stormwater drainage systems.
