Alabama State University, Department of Transportation, invites applicants for the position of Transportation Driver. The successful applicant will provide transportation for all ASU departments, driving a 45/56 passenger bus, vans, and cars, and render other transportation related services to include moving and transporting furniture to various university buildings.
Duties and responsibilities:
Provide transportationfor various ASU departments to local, and out of state functions
Assist passengers in loading and unloading; assist passengers with luggage and other items for overhead bins and storage compartments
Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on buses by checking gas, oil, battery, radiator for proper levels and tires for proper pressure
May perform emergency repairs such as changing tires, light bulbs, and/or fuses during travel
Deliver to, and pick up vehicles from repair shops
Perform routine maintenance on university automobiles, trucks, buses and vans
Perform routine cleaning of buses' interior and exterior; clean, inspect and maintain restroom
Maintain a neat and clean work area
Make daily deliveries from the campus health center to the state's health department
Perform other related transportation duties as assigned
High School Diploma or GED, valid CDL Class B with Passenger Endorsement, 1 year of on the road commercial bus driving experience, possess state DOT approved medical documentation, and be at least 21 years of age are required. Must be able to sit for extended periods of time, lift 35-45 pounds, work nights, weekends, and holiday as needed.
As a part of the interview and selection process, candidate will participate in an on the road driving tes, and evaluation to be considered for the position.
