Johnson Brothers-Mutual Distributing of North Carolina seeks a team-oriented Transportation Distribution Manager for it's Charlotte, NC location. This position is responsible for day to day customer service including product deliveries, fleet and the associated operation of a distribution center. Will be responsible for managing both driver supervisors and a team of delivery drivers along with guiding the team to achieve day-to-day productivity standards, DOT compliance, safety compliance, and provide industry-leading quality and customer service.

The incumbent must have 7+ years of management experience, fleet maintenance experience, exceptional communication skills, and demonstrate the ability to manage personnel, customer service, and safety. Incumbent must demonstrate the ability to lead, work independently, along with being self-motivated and detail-oriented.

Job Description:

  • Manage DSD delivery drivers and delivery supervisors in day to day activities: route delivery, customer service, route settlement, and related facility areas.

  • Ensures Transportation team members comply with local, state and federal regulatory agencies (i.e. DVIR, DOT, OSHA, etc.) and ensures that electronic logs are kept current and accurate

  • Responsible for managing 3rd party repair vendor and approving truck repair quotes and invoices of all company owned trucks

  • Responsible for delivery excellence via on-time, under budget, quality delivery of all services

  • Work with drivers, customers, and company personnel to resolve service issues, routing and/or planning, mechanical problems, accessorial pay related issues, etc. as they occur throughout the day and, where necessary.

  • Develop delivery personnel while ensuring exceptional customer service within chain grocery stores, convenience stores, specialty stores and restaurants.

  • Strategic planning and forecasting; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; resolve problems; and address staffing needs.

  • Monitor delivery fleet using Samsara and/or Roadnet

  • Communicate daily with sales, warehouse and office departments to address any issues or concerns related to account sales or delivery.

  • Monitor production levels through daily reports and tracking.

  • Responsible for enforcing all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

  • Trains drivers in the areas of safe driving, proper lifting techniques and company delivery process and procedure

  • Conduct investigations to determine root causes of accidents along with ways to improve safety procedures.

  • Work in a team-based atmosphere to reach sales goal objectives.

  • Foster a work environment that maximizes employee involvement, morale and engagement

  • Other duties, responsibilities or projects as assigned.

  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field and/or equivalent training and work experience

  • Minimum of 7+ years' experience in related area

  • Experience in fleet maintenance

  • Proficient PC skills using MS Office and other various computer programs including presentation software

  • Must be a results-oriented professional with verbal/written communication skills using diplomacy and discretion as well as customer service skills

  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and/or within a team, pay attention to detail and meet deadlines

  • Analytic and Reporting skills

  • Utilize sound judgement and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work in fast-paced, high-volume, team environment

  • Candidate must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check and a post offer physical.
