Job Responsibilities

The Transportation, Distribution and Logistics (TDL) Program Manager, reporting to the Associate Vice President of Workforce Development, oversees transportation, distribution, logistics, and CDL programs. Responsibilities include hiring, training, and supervising instructors for these programs. The manager collaborates with agency partners like SC Works and local adult education centers for strategic recruiting and funding.

Job Functions:

Design and plan detailed program proposals, including curriculum, objectives, and budget projections, in collaboration with stakeholders. Establish and manage evaluation and assessment mechanisms to measure program effectiveness.

Oversee program budgets, resources, and timelines to ensure successful implementation and delivery. Prepare reports, to include but not limited to, program cost sheets to ensure position profitability and presentations for leadership and stakeholders.

Develop and manage curriculum materials, in collaboration with faculty and instructional designers, to meet accreditation and industry standards and certifications. Provide professional development for instructors.

Maintain accurate records of program activities and student outcomes. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and policies.

Establish and nurture relationships with employers, industry associations, and community stakeholders to enhance programs and secure resources. Conduct needs assessments to identify gaps and opportunities for new or improved programs.

Provide career counseling, academic advising, and program information sessions for students. Assist with enrollment, financial aid applications, and other administrative tasks.

Monitor student progress, addressing challenges and barriers to completion. Connect students with support services, resources, and employment opportunities.

Identify collaboration opportunities to enhance program offerings and resources. Facilitate internships, apprenticeships, and job placements for students. Promote programs through outreach events, marketing campaigns, and networking activities.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Bachelor's degree and related training development program experience. SC CDL Examiner and current CDL Class A License required.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer minimum requirements plus 5 years' experience in TDL or CDL. Demonstrated commitment to workforce development; experience with curriculum and program development reflecting current best practices and responsiveness to market demands.

Must have the ability to manage commercial vehicle programs; knowledge in application-based platforms for Android and iPhone devices. Must be comfortable with electronic logbook and vehicle inspection reports. Prefer knowledge of non-credit technical college policies and procedures and knowledge of federal and state laws related to program enrollment.
