South Shore Technical High School is seeking a Transportation Coordinator beginning on July 1, 2024.
South Shore Technical High School serves the communities of Abington, Cohasset, Hanover, Hanson, Marshfield, Norwell, Rockland, Scituate and Whitman and
provides morning and afternoon transportation as well as transportation to athletic events and field trips for our students in grades 9-12.

The Transportation Coordinator reports to the Principal (or designee) and oversees the planning, operation, and administration of a safe, efficient, and economical
transportation system which meets all of the District's requirements of its daily instructional program and extracurricular activities, including: supervision,
training and evaluation of bus drivers, daily transportation of students to and from school, organization, planning, scheduling and implementation of bus routes,
bus maintenance, repairs and inspections and other roles as required. This is a twelve-month, supervisory, confidential position.

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:
Salary is negotiable, based on education, training and experience.
This position is eligible for all benefits offered by the District and membership in the Plymouth County Retirement System. Paid time off is negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent, plus 5 years' experience in vehicle service and maintenance, fleet operations, or traffic services.
2.Must be fully licensed to operate a school bus in Massachusetts (CDL license with S, P and air brakes endorsement, school bus driver certificate and
medical examiner's certificate).
3.Must have or be willing to obtain School Bus Driver Instructor License.
4.Basic computer knowledge for planning run schedules and utilize bus transportation software.
5.Strong organizational and communication skills.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Supervise and evaluate bus drivers.
2.Fulfill all duties of the position of School Bus Driver, limited to regularly scheduled morning and afternoon bus routes, if needed.
3.Serve as a first line of communication between bus drivers and administrators.
4.Monitor progress and status of bus runs, including run times, as needed.
5.Schedule and arrange for maintenance, repairs and inspections to vehicles with outside contractor(s); move the buses to repair locations when required;
Coordinate with DOT inspectors for quarterly inspections.
6.Assist administrators in development and coordination of bus routes as required.
7.Schedule for substitute bus drivers as needed.
8.Coordinate and oversee bus route schedules and assignments.
9.Review field trip, sport events and other extracurricular runs and post as necessary.
10. Provide emergency driving support as needed.
11. Conduct required periodic safety meetings and implement professional development training for bus drivers.
12. Assist in the development of the annual budget for Transportation.
13. Oversee the maintenance of all district-owned equipment, develop plans for preventive maintenance and handling vehicle emergencies;
Perform routine bus and vehicle maintenance, including cleaning and inspection preparation; Perform minor repairs to buses as needed.
14. Assist Human Resources in ensuring all current bus drivers' licenses and certificates are valid and current including: Commercial Driver's Licenses,
Bus Driver Certificates, Medical Examiner Certificates and where applicable, First Aid/CPR certifications as well as observation reports in compliance with
Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
15. Facilitate effective communication with parents, staff and school personnel.
16. Evaluate and inform administrators on the effectiveness of transportation programs/services.
17. Ensure safety standards in compliance with State/Federal laws and insurance regulations, including submission of all reports required by
federal and state authorities.
18. Perform all other duties as assigned.
