Our Transportation Market helps improve the connectivity of our community through solutions that support the safe and efficient movement of goods, services and people. Under the transportation team supervision, the student intern responsibilities may include:
Perform various aspects of roadway projects including geometric design, right-of-way plans, storm drainage design, utilities, signing and marking, and erosion control design.
Conceive, plan and conduct research in complex problem areas. Resolve a variety of complex problems (e.g., conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, difficult coordination requirements).
Assisting project managers with daily coordination and management tasks. Undertake research and special projects.
Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology or Transportation Engineering
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word and Excel)
Proficiency MicroStation, AutoCAD principles, InRoads, GeoPak, a plus
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment; and quickly learn new and unfamiliar concepts and tasks.
Excellent interpersonal skills with high initiative and flexibility
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Detail oriented, able to handle multiple projects simultaneously, extremely professional, and client service oriented

Paid internships and co-ops are an excellent way to provide students with an opportunity to develop real-world skills in an environment that encourages personal and professional growth. Gresham Smith accepts interns from accredited schools. Many students? have been offered continued employment as full-time employees after graduation.
Interest in the Gresham Smith internship/co-op program continues to grow and space is limited. We recruit for students year round. Many are competing for a few positions, so if you don't get in on the first try, you can rest assured there will be other opportunities.
