- Benefits THE POSITION The Department of Transportation Engineering District 8 has an exciting career opportunity in transportation construction inspection!
We are seeking to fill a Transportation Construction Inspector position in the bridge inspection section of the Design Division.
In order to be eligible for this position you must: + Have successfully examined andhave a current score on file for this job titlewith the State Civil Service Commission.

Travel and overtime may be required.
This position is headquartered at Engineering District 8, but employee may work in Adams, Cumberland, Franklin, York, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon or Perry County.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: This position requires possession of a valid non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Transportation Construction Inspector in the bridge inspection section, you will perform or assist with a variety of technical duties associated with the inspection of bridges in accordance with the National Bridge Inspection Standards.
This includes bridge safety inspections on existing bridges, including bridge structural members, foundations, supports and components, and also preparing bridge inspection reports and records to document findings on the current condition and deficiencies.
