We are seeking a Transportation Roads Condition Assessment Technician Temp for the Summer Quarter (July September).

The Transportation Condition Assessment Technician Intern will be working alongside Woolpert professional engineers, condition assessment experts, transportation advisors and BLM staff collecting and processing survey data. Some projects could be assisting with GIS, completing transportation PASER analysis, performing aggregate depth analysis and data collection.


  • Working as part of the integrated Roads Condition Assessment Field team and transportation program

  • Providing support and learning to plan field assessment processes with senior staff

  • Working directly with client under supervision of senior management to validate schedules and plan for approval

  • Gaining real-world experience collecting data in the field with licensed professional engineers and condition assessment experts

  • Assisting with the collection and processing of data for the Bureau of Land Management

  • Knowledge and understanding of project coordination and scheduling using MS Project, Project Server or similar system

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)

  • Ability to coordinate completion of multiple tasks and deadlines

  • Performs field data and testing on designated routes to include sampling of surface depth, review of route deformations, etc., as required by the specific project

  • Must understand GIS principals. Experience with GIS software and systems is preferred


  • Must be enrolled as a student at an accredited college or university

  • Must be studying engineering, or related field

  • Must be willing to work outside in the field, no matter the weather conditions or environment

  • General understanding and willingness to learn various survey equipment and Trimble Business Center Software.

  • Knowledge of digital photography to document road conditions and data requirements

  • Perform tasks and solve problems with a high degree of independence

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to function well in a collaborative, team-oriented environment

  • Exceptional multitasking and time management skills

  • Must be willing to travel when needed through the duration of the internship

  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen prior to employment

Resulting Physical Qualifications:

  • Must be able to sit for extending periods of time

  • Must be able to lift and move more than 25 pounds

  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms and climb

  • Must have vision abilities of close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus for the roads

SUMMARY The Leadership Practitioner works with a team of leadership development professionals to apply principles of I-O psychology to provide expertise to the institution and its leaders to assist them in maximizing their own development and that of the teams they lead. JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES Assessments Designs and validates assessments for selection and development purposes, with focus on leadership populations, but also to include frontline populations as well. Assessments could include, but on not limited, to personality assessments, 360 assessments, talent reviews, assessments centers, situational judgment tests. Feedback and Personalized Development Plans Provides feedback to institutional executive and faculty leaders and their teams focused on improving individual performance, work unit performance, manager-employee relationships, and human resources management practices leveraging assessment tools to design personalized development plans. Succession Planning Facilitates executive and faculty leaders through the talent review and succession planning processes to include working with the technology-based tools and systems to assist leaders in creating the talent pipelines for the organization. Surveys Assists in the administration of the employee-wide survey to measure organizational engagement. Works directly with the survey vendor for survey set up and review of results.
