Transportation Associate - Logistics (Corporate 412 West)

SUMMARY: The Associate Transportation Customer Service will be responsible for supporting both internal and external business units in efforts rallied around service and efficiencies as well as streamlining communication. This position will manage the daily traffic operations of all assigned Tyson facilities.

Duties: Follow-up on all late deliveries with carriers; work with sales carriers and plants to minimize costs associated with detention claims unloading and related delivery problems; monitor carrier performance to ensure customer and plant service; provide equipment as needed by plant to ensure continuous loading and consistency with sales requirements; confirm all loads with carriers and re-book loads as needed after hours; be aware of rate levels when booking loads; optimize distribution costs through efficient carrier selection; and be the liaison between Tyson Customer Service and carriers to develop programs that will enhance Tysons position in the market place.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Associate Transportation will be responsible for managing the daily communication and contact our external and internal partners with regard to the timely and efficient delivery of our products. Managers are expected to engage with plants, facilities, customers, carriers and follow up on all late shipments. Proactively analyze and manage lanes/carriers to give our operations group the best possible position to fulfill one of core requirements in service to our customers.

Shift A: Tuesday

• Saturday or Sunday

• Thursday (8AM - 5PM)

• Must be flexible in schedule as some weekend/night work may be required.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Requires a HS diploma and broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Education beyond HS preferred.

Experience: 1 plus year of experience, or advanced degree with 1 plus years of distribution experience preferred.

Computer Skills: Strong experience in Microsoft Office applications as well as knowledge of our internal and external distributions systems preferred.

Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Position communicates with multiple levels of management carriers and vendors.

Special Skills: Individual must be highly detail orientated. Must demonstrate strong problem-solving skills along with the ability to work well on their own and with others in a team setting fostering a positive goal-oriented environment.

Supervisory: At least one hourly team member.

Travel:1-2 domestic trips per year possible
