Role Purpose & Responsibilities

Purpose

This position will be providing transportation for clients including school aged children, delivering food/supplies to clients and Housing Families' satellite sites. In this role, the TA2 will work across the organization reporting to the Program Manager.

In the morning, the TA2 will work with the Community Resource Hub and Operations team. Our Hub is a supplemental food program that spans across all Housing Families' programs and clients. In addition, the TA2 will provide any delivery or transportation support requested by the Operations team.

In the afternoons, the Transportation Associate will work with our GREAT Youth and Families Program (GYFP) After School program where they will assist with transportation of kids to and from program, program needs, and clean up as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate regularly with parents of the children in the program regarding attendance and program cancelations.

  • Help kids on and off of the van and ensure they make it to their scheduled activity.

  • Handle crises as they occur. Provide supportive interventions for difficult interactions with children including fights between children and children unable or unwilling to engage in tutoring.

  • Maintain safe driving practices and ensure that all children arrive safely at their destination and follow the driving route to pick up children as scheduled.

  • Safe operation of Housing Families vehicles and the transportation of program participants to the afterschool program in the 14-passenger van.

  • Ensure van rules are being communicated and followed by van passengers.

  • Communicate with the Program Manager to alert staff of issues, children who do not show, and to estimate arrival time at program facilities.

  • Completes thorough before-and-after trip checks each day and record all information. Records gas level, mileage, and maintenance on designated forms. Cleans out van each day.

  • Work closely with Transportation Associate 1, the HUB staff, interns, and GYFP staff and volunteers.

  • Attend supervision with GYFP Program Manager.

  • Provide backup childcare and tutoring as needed.

  • Manage food at program

  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and tidy program.

  • Assist in facilitating groups and supporting kids when on and off site during programming.

  • Assist with special projects as needed.

  • HUB tasks:

  • Manage the pick-up, delivery and properly store products and other lightweight materials for the CRH and other satellite sites.

  • Help with inventory and assist with other duties at the pantry including organizing and cleaning.

  • Pick-up product for CRH at stores or other food distributors.

  • Perform additional transport and loading duties to support the food pantry program and general Housing Families Operations.

Qualifications/Requirements

Qualifications

Must have experience working with children. Applicants who are bilingual and have experience working with families from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Knowledgeable of trauma-informed practices, youth development and social emotional learning a plus!

Eligibility Requirements

  • Ability to form strong interpersonal relationships with people from diverse backgrounds

  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Must be fluent in English

  • Must be able to pass a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) and Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) background check

  • Must be able to work fulltime 40-hour week as followed.

  • Monday,Tuesdays 11:00am- 7:30pm

  • Wednesdays 12:00pm- 6:00pm

  • Thursdays- 11:00am- 8:00pm

  • Fridays- 12:00pm- 7:30pm

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at a time walking up and down flights of stairs

  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time at a desk while working on a computer

  • Compensation/Hours: $21.54 hour / Full-time Hourly Role
