Ergon's Energy & Specialty Services in Flowood, currently has an opening for a Transportation and Logistics Coordinator. Assist in managing the rail fleet. Including overseeing the management and maintenance of the rail fleet. Ensuring the efficient operation, and reliability of the fleet, while also maximizing its lifespan and minimizing costs. Optimize fleet utilization to minimize lease expense. Help support Ergon's export business utilizing rail transloads for exporting products in ISO tanks and flexibags.

Transportation and Logistics Coordinator Qualifications:

  • College Degree preferred.

  • Proven experience in rail fleet management, maintenance, and operations

  • Knowledge of rail industry regulations, standards, and best practices

  • Proficiency in using rail fleet management software and other relevant tools.

  • Problem solving aptitude and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.

  • Familiar with rail transload operations and exporting products utilizing ISO and Flexibags

  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Package skills, SAP experience

  • Ability to coordinate activities of multi-disciplined groups

Transportation and Logistics Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Utilize tracing systems to monitor the daily movement of shipments, addressing any delays or disruptions proactively to maintain smooth operations.

  • Maintain Ergon's and customers cars in fleet management software.

  • Analyze expenses and identify opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining service quality.

  • Collect and analyze data on rail transportation performance, identifying trends and opportunities for optimization.

  • Assist with contacting leasing companies when leases are terminated and when new leases are negotiated and maintain in fleet management software.

  • Maintain OT-57 Registration on railcar fleet with Rail Inc. (AAR)

  • Resolves problems associated with rail traffic, i.e. diversions, rebilling, rejected railcars, bad orders, delayed, mishandled railcars and work with customer service, traffic clerks, and billing departments to ensure all documentation is correct. Work with railroads, EHS, customer service, and outside environmental agencies on derailments and transloading product to and from railcars as needed.

  • Identify potential risks, such as weather-related delays or operational challenges, and develop contingency plans to mitigate their impact on rail logistics.

  • Work with Customer Service scheduling railcar orders to ensure alignment with refinery's loading rack schedule, production, distribution, and customer demand.

  • Publishes empty railcar report for shipping terminals and collaborates with terminal operations to secure available empties for orders scheduled to load.

  • Maintain railcar shipments in rail tracing system and make corrections if needed.

  • Maintains and monitors trip history records for shipping terminals to optimize fleet utilization.

  • Coordinate and schedule tankcar compliance, inspections, and repairs to ensure optimal performance and compliance with rail transportation regulations.

  • Review and challenge any cost associated with railcar repairs.

  • Work with FRA to obtain OTMA (one time movement approval) for leaking railcars.

  • Responsible for railcar tracing system - securing and training.

  • Compile reports from rail tracing system as needed by management and work with RTS to create or re-format current reports to be more beneficial to Ergon.

  • Reconcile and dispute rail demurrage billed by railroads at loading terminals.

  • Reconcile invoices in Onbase, lease invoices, rail freight invoices, repair invoices.

  • Create shipping patterns in railroad websites and assist any new terminals with setting up railcar billing patterns. Make sure customer service and terminals have correct rail shipping instructions, and contracts on customers SAP profile.

  • Collaborate with rail carriers on new rates, negotiate end of year contract renewals considering more efficient rail routes, potential bottlenecks, servicing issues, & sustainability.

  • Meet with railroad representatives on a regular basis to discuss any new business opportunities and any current traffic issues we may be experiencing.

  • Meet with railcar leasing agents on regular basis to discuss industry regulations and Ergon's current railcar needs to maximize rail fleet utilization. .

  • Attend rail seminars/conferences to expand knowledge and stay updated on rail transportation regulations to ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and legal standards.

  • Support ongoing department operational excellence in aiding with railcar, isotanks and flexibags shipments.

  • Work with Global Freight Forwarders to plan, schedule, and track isotank, flexibag, drum and other small container shipments.

  • Ensure shipping documents and reporting requirements are properly maintained.
