ABB Power Grids is seeking a Hub Interhub Transport Manager for its Pittsburgh, PA location. The responsibilities include supporting and continuously optimizing the T&L organization within Hub NAM. Strong focus on the heavy lift operations in order to mitigate risk and leverage on the buying power by bundling shipments. In addition, a co-ordination activity on general cargo and trade and market compliance is expected. They will deliver on the KPI's and drive the continuous improvement of processes, tools and services, managing the demand according to the agreed procedures and processes.
Secure safe operation for heavy lift transportation by having qualified companies operating in the factories and at customer sites.
Oversee the heavy lift operation of the supply factories, take ownership at the port of loading, lead and manage the transport sequence to the destination.
Initiate and/or support implementation of strategic cost savings initiatives and risk mitigation projects
Coordinate and project manage cross-hub projects with support of local specialists
Address and escalate appropriately project activities not compliant with processes and procedures, and/or not meeting savings target.
Be the lead to trade and customs, enforce and drive PGTR imports SOP.
Ensure all operations are done with approved suppliers and as per strategy from the Global category team.
Regularly collect demand and ensure adequate level of supply or available supply capacity.
Work closely with other function to generate projects and bring value on quality, cash, lead time, material availability and costs.
Act as first level escalation for supplier issue resolution/hot topics including claims management.
Oversee transport tender management to support Sales and Global Project Operations.
Support supply factories in the day to day sourcing / operation, using market specific data
Bundle projects and volume to leverage on buying power and therewith reduce cost.
Centralize detailed pricing and distribution to the factories on tender costs and purchase order costs.
Supporting and consult the factories in cost control per project
Manage and embed cascaded initiatives, empowered to ensure the directions are always adhered to
Executes and implements new directions within the area of responsibility.
Operate with factory according to clear processes roles and responsibilities. Applies and implements PL standards, tools and processes in the area of responsibility
Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of professional experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, Manufacturing, etc.
Candidate must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the United States
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related discipline preferred
Previous experience in leadership roles preferred
Strong analytical skills preferred
