The Challenge

Our Overhead Transmission business is in search of a Transmission Design Engineer with PLS-CADD experience to join its team in Irving, TX (remote candidates welcome).

In this role, you will serve as an Engineer on electric transmission line design projects for high-voltage (HV) and extra-high-voltage (EHV) overhead and underground systems for some of the largest utilities in the country. You will apply NESC, ASCE, ACI, and other applicable standards in the engineering and design of electrical overhead and underground systems, voltage conversion projects, new capacity projects, and infrastructure replacement projects.

Additionally, performing engineering analyses, preparing bidding documents, draft plans, and specifications, as well as preparing material procurement and construction documents. This will involve working with a multi-person Leidos team and interfacing with clients, project planning, environmental, permitting, and construction management personnel.

What Sets You Apart:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering with two (2) + years of relevant experience in the design of electric utility transmission systems

  • Experience using PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.

  • Work effectively in team environment; can also work independently.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with clients and project teams.

  • Work in client office is a possibility and/or periodic travel may be required.

You Might Also Have:

  • Experience with TOWER is a plus.

  • EIT or PE certification is desirable.

  • Experience with LPILE or FAD, Mathcad, AutoCAD or MicroStation, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a plus.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $55,250.00 - $99,875.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
