Translator - Special Education (205 Days)

Act as Interpreter between students, parents, and school staff from diverse cultures or backgrounds in English and Spanish at Special Education meetings

Interpret with no additions or omissions following technical information, legally mandated educational requirements and Special Education terminology.

Maintain de integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or district

Handle three-way Hotline interpretations between school staff and parents while maintaining daily phone activity logs

Must be available to work evening, Saturday, and short notice meetings.

Render clear and exact translations of written materials following guidelines.

All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as appropriate.

Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree preferred; Accredited High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. Equivalency), plus 60-college hour required.

Two years of experience as translator/interpreter with knowledge of ARD/FIE procedures in a school setting, preferred.

Demonstrate strong written and oral language skills in Spanish and English including proofreading with keen attention to detail.

Experience with use of google docs, Word, PDFs.

If working remotely from home, have an adequate work environment to process the calls - free from distractions, such as pets and other unexpected noises.

Strong organization, time management, prioritization, problem-solving, and communication skills

Ability to learn the use of FM transmitters/receivers (interpretation equipment)

Must have reliable transportation.
