This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.

DEPARTMENT: Public Transportation

LOCATION: 3600 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue

HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Example of Duties

Responsible for professional level planning work involving the technical research and analysis of public transportation issues of both short and long-range nature, preparation of plans, project management, and related work as required. Perform duties related to Geographic Information Systems (GIS), including spatial and attribute data capture, data analysis, map design and production of spatial modeling. Assist in the preparation of fixed route bus schedules, public engagement activities, system route design, and capital infrastructure planning. Prepare, review, and update statistical, demographic, economic, and related information. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance, Planning/Transit, or similar discipline and two (2) years of experience in professional administration of transportation/transit planning.

OR

Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance, Planning/Transit, or similar discipline and four (4) years of experience in professional administration of transportation/transit planning.

OR

High school diploma, GED or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in professional administration of transportation/transit planning.

Preferences:

  • Proficient in geographic information systems (GIS).

  • Prefer candidates with a degree in Urban Planning or Transportation Planning.

  • Experience using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or InDesign.
