Job Description

Alaska Waste has an immediate position available for an Operator/Attendant at our Transfer Station in Seward, AK. Your days off will vary but the shift will be 4 days per week, 8am-6pm.

In addition to running a forklift you will be trained to run other equipment such as frond end loaders, skid steer, as well as driving roll- off and tractor trailer around the yard. On top of equipment operating you will also work with the public and will assist with cleaning and labor duties.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operating heavy equipment such as front-end loaders, forklifts, and other medium to heavy equipment in accordance with all OSHA, state and federal requirements

  • Regularly inspecting equipment, and performing minor repairs and maintenance as required

  • Safety of vehicle, equipment, and load Moving waste from the Transfer Site collection area to transfer trailer in preparation for transport to the Landfill

  • Ensuring all customer interactions by Operator are polite and courteous; may be required to greet, direct, discuss issues, and educate customers of onsite rules and restrictions

  • Following all appropriate safety guidelines and precautions, wearing required safety gear, and maintaining a neat and professional appearance at all times

  • Performing other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 1 year heavy equipment operating experience

In this position you will: * Clean and organize housekeeping cart and stock housekeeping supplies in janitor closets. * Wipe down and clean dressers, nightstand tables, TV's, book shelves, light fixtures, and door knobs in elders' rooms. * Clean mirrors, shelves, sinks, tiles, toilet (inside and outside surface), and handrails in bathrooms. * Wipe walls, sinks, and hoppers (inside and outside surface) in the soiled laundry room. * Clean trashcans and laundry buckets inside and outside. * Clean shower room and spa (tiled floor and walls) including shower curtain. * Wash and clean chairs, tables, over bed tables, TV's, sinks, bed, mattress and counters in hearth and kitchen areas. * Wipe down desk, chairs, shelves, and window blinds in office areas and vacuum carpet. * Dust mop and damp mop floor. Use electrical equipment such as shampooer, wet vacuum, etc. Remove heel marks, streaks, and foreign matter from floor and baseboard. Sweep and mop tiled floor. Required qualifications for this position include: * Ability to read, write and speak English Preferred qualifications for this position include: * High school graduate or equivalent * Previous experience in a health related facility * 1 year in janitorial services * Basic floor care knowledge and knowledge in institutional chemicals, equipment, and supplies About Mountain Haven Providence Mountain Haven is the first Green House® home in Alaska, which is includes 4-lodges, each with 10-Elders.
