Transfer Center Specialist 1 - Carecomm Command Center

Under general supervision of the designated Team Leader, following established policies and procedures, gathers and records all necessary information. Coordinates patient placement assignments and re-assignments throughout all hospital units. Partners with Administrators on Duty, Charge Nurses, and Clinicians to place patients, resolve bed shortage conflicts, answers routine and non-routine phone calls from physicians, nurses, patients, and other clinical departments within the Hospital and routes inquiries as appropriate and convey the status of available beds. Documents and reviews patient admission statuses within the electronic patient record. Works directly with medical staff, nursing, ancillary departments, insurance carriers as well other internal and external professionals to assist patients in obtaining health care and financial services. May also be responsible for obtaining demographic and confidential clinical and financial information necessary to pre admit, assist R.N. to determine medical necessity for a patient's emergent or non-emergent external transfer, verify insurance eligibility and benefits, provide notification, and obtain treatment authorization. Other duties as assigned. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.

• High School Diploma or G.E.D required.

• Minimum of (1) one year of medical terminology;

• Preferred minimum (1) one year experience working with insurance and managed care companies to obtain eligibility, benefits, and treatment authorization.

• CHAA certification preferred.
