Transfer Admissions Counselor

Reporting to the Associate Director of Transfer Admissions, the Transfer Admissions Counselor (Professional Services Specialist 4) is responsible for proactively recruiting transfer students, representing the University in a variety of settings in-person and virtually, such as community college presentations, transfer fairs, college night programs, on-campus visits and special events. Additionally, the Transfer Admissions Counselor coordinates on-site admissions and credit evaluation services at community colleges within the assigned geographic territory; and does related work as required.

This position will also be responsible for obtaining knowledge of all aspects of Kean University and representing the University in a professional and customer service-oriented manner.

Admissions Counselors in the Office of University Admissions provide essential student support services and excellent customer service to prospective and current Kean University students and their families. A flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours is required.

This position will also require extensive travel and driving to recruitment locations in New Jersey, including Community Colleges for transfer admissions. This position is not remote and requires physical presence on campus as determined by the Supervisor.

Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree; one year of professional experience in an enrollment management area in an institution of higher education or working directly with admissions, student recruitment and/or retention initiatives in a related field or professional experience in recruitment, marketing, sales or customer service is required.

Transportation for recruitment travel and a driver's license valid in the State of New Jersey is also required. A Master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

Previous recruiter experience in an admissions office in an institution of higher education is preferred. Datatel Colleague and Slate experience is also preferred. Essential job functions include driving and the ability to lift, handle and transport recruitment materials and equipment over short and long distances.

Traveling will require the ability to drive for short and extended periods of time. Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
