Duties and Responsibilities:
This position recruits prospective transfer and special population students by conducting private visits at Alabama community colleges, as well as participating in college fairs, advising workshops and other relevant recruitment events.
In addition, the position participates in transfer admission yield activities both on and off campus. Provides advising to prospective students and parents about transfer admission. Builds positive relationships with community college personnel. Unofficially evaluates transfer credits according to established policies and procedures.
This position works closely with the Director of Admissions to analyze trends, set goals and develop/implement recruitment and yield activities.
Establish strong working relationships with academic advisors and academic departments to successfully ensure advising, services and seamless transition to students enrolling through concurrent enrollment agreements and other agreements with partner community colleges.
The Transfer Admissions Counselor is responsible for specialized coordination duties related to partner community colleges by constant interactions with colleagues there intended to assist in the recruitment, admission and enrollment of qualified undergraduate students.
Assist with prospective student communication plans for transfers. Work with Admissions' Communication and Technology Manager to oversee the communication plans and materials that we distribute to two-year counselors and students.
Assist with prospective transfer student recruitment events. Work to ensure that all transfer related activities in the recruitment plan are carried through.
Assist all students with admissions, financial aid, registration processes; plan and/or participate in student activities; make presentations to student/parent groups.
Maintain equipment, office files, and student records; answer telephone and provide assistance to callers; and provide assistance to students/visitors.
Assist with on-campus recruitment; evaluate transcripts; assist related student services offices/functions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of student systems as related to admissions (preferably BANNER), databases, and Microsoft products
Knowledge of acceptable advising and/or recruiting techniques and practices
Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations
Ability to recruit students
Skill in making written and oral presentations
Interpersonal skills
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree is required.
