JOB SUMMARY: The Transfer Admissions Counselor is responsible for assisting in the development, planning and implementation of the Southern Adventist University recruitment strategy for traditional transfer undergraduate students, by connecting with individual prospective students and assisting them through the enrollment process. Some travel may be required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruit and advise transfer prospective students by connecting through phone calls, emails, text messages, in-person meetings, and other communication channels to assist them through the enrollment process, as well as offer counseling on scholarships and financial aid.
Manage the transfer student undergraduate application process, including data entry of application, transcripts, and other materials required to make admissions decision; as well as the communication of the admission decision to applicants.
Create an individual territory recruitment plan (using suggested recruitment template) each year as well as participate in the creation of a team recruitment plan. The plan includes recruitment activities, participation in events/conferences/fairs, communications with prospective students and networking opportunities.
Coordinate the Transfer Prospective Student marketing plan with the Associate Director of Admissions for communications and operations, making revision each year as necessary.
Develop profiles for prospective students in assigned territories in order to effectively communicate relevant benefits of Southern Adventist University and specific programs.
Assist in the evaluation of recruitment techniques to determining their effectiveness in order to seek ways to improve them.
Update a database of teachers, administrators, and contact people with whom workshops and information sessions can be booked. Network with new contacts to help increase inquiry production.
Support the Campus Visits Coordinator by assisting with Campus Visit events, including "Counselor of the Day" activities, and leading portions of ViewSouthern, PreviewSouthern, and other campus visit related event programming.
Represent Southern Adventist University during academy graduation services in the Southern Union and present appropriate awards and scholarships; and union and conference-wide meetings, particularly educational and ministerial, as assigned.
Assist the Associate Director of Admissions in the general planning of the office, including registrations, committee work, policy input, and other duties as assigned to support the general mission of the Admissions Department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor's degree is required, but a Master's degree preferred.
Must be able to demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills
Highly organized with a distinct propensity for timeliness and professionalism
Ability to work extended hours during critical admissions seasons.
Experience effectively working with and speaking to young adults preferred.
Demonstrated competency with a variety of technology platforms and tools.
Special Requirements: Must have an expressed commitment to Jesus Christ, the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, a SDA church member in good and regular standing, and a desire to serve in a cooperative, spiritually redemptive, and soul-winning atmosphere.
Working Conditions: Essential tasks are performed under normal office/school conditions with little or no noticeable discomfort. Work area is well lighted and ventilated.
Typical Physical Demands: Requires sitting, standing, walking, bending and reaching. May require moving packages up to 50 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, the telephone and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
