Job Description:

The primary responsibility of the Transcript Analyst is to review student documents from colleges, universities, other academic institutions and the military for the purpose of transferability of college credit, reverse transfer, and graduation utilizing established guidelines provided by LSU college and faculty. Work is complex in nature and requires strong analytical thinking skills as well as math skills.

In addition to evaluation of student transcripts, the Transcript Analyst assists with ensuring that the department maintains compliance with college, state, and federal regulations as well as established policies and procedures round the evaluation and awarding of transfer credit. This position sets the tone for a student-centered, high-performance culture that emphasizes excellence in service, quality, productivity, and standards.

Analyzes, authenticates, and researches documents submitted for evaluation of transfer credit. Documents include but are not limited to official college and university transcripts, official military transcripts, specialized articulated credit as outlined in the college's articulation agreements, foreign evaluations, and official credit-by-examination program score results such as those originating from the College Level Examination Program (CLEP), Advanced Placement (AP), the Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE), and International Baccalaureate (IB). 25%

Utilizing guidelines established by college faculty, as well as articulation agreements and other sources of officially established course equivalencies, determines transfer course work applicability and/or equivalency toward degree completion. When not readily available through the existing documentation, collaborates with college faculty and others to determine course equivalency for awarding of transfer credit. 25%

Processes both incoming and evaluated transcripts; enters relevant course and transcript data into the student information system (SIS) in a timely manner; verifies accuracy of evaluated transcripts following departmental guidelines. Processes applicable changes to student records following credit review decisions, and after any needed outside review and approval. Communicates awarded credit information to the student. Ensures that the awarding of transfer credit happens with SLA requirements. (20%)

In collaboration with admissions leadership and college faculty, maintains up-to-date information on transfer policies and practices. Answers, researches, records, and resolves questions related to a student's transfer credit evaluation. Questions may be received by telephone, mail, chat, or in-person from students, faculty, and/or staff. Provides regular reports that summarize the course evaluations done in the most recent period. (20%)

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two years of experience. Experience with accepted policies and practices in American higher education related to the granting of credits and degrees, course structures, and grading practices.

As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center.

In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.
