Our popular Highlights Tram Tours provide guests with an overview of Holden Arboretum gardens, collections, natural areas, and history with special emphasis on seasonal highlights. Tour guides will help make guests feel welcome and foster deeper engagement with HF&G's mission by orienting them to the Arboretum campus. The Tram Tour Guides help guests learn about the arboretum property and ensure a safe experience for all.

Tours Run May through October. Training is provided. This position is supervised by the Guest Services Lead. Weekend, weekday, occasional evening, and occasional holiday work is required.

Position Details:

  • Part-Time, seasonal, non-exempt position

  • 12-18 hours per week

  • Shifts are generally 10:30am - 5:00pm

  • Positions available April through October

  • Must have flexible schedule to be able to work weekends, weekdays, some evenings and holidays

  • Training is provided

  • This position is supervised by the Guest Services Representative Lead

  • $13.39/hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Holden Forests & Gardens' mission, values, vision, and core commitment to the visitor experience and community engagement

  • Provide guests of all mobility levels an introduction and overview of Arboretum grounds and seasonal horticultural highlights

  • Help guests engage more deeply with the plants and stories on our campus

  • Lead 45-minute tram tours of the Arboretum's gardens and grounds

  • Present grounds and organization knowledge with energy and enthusiasm

  • Answer questions about the organization accurately and appropriately

  • Stay in communication with Guest Services manager on duty regarding ticket sales, logistical issues, and day-to-day operations

  • Represent Holden Forests & Gardens in a professional manner to the community

  • Provide feedback to primary Guest Services Lead about route, content, and coordination of tours to assist in program evaluation

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Demonstrated passion for people and nature

  • High school degree or equivalent, required

  • Customer service experience, highly desired

  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record are required

  • Must enjoy working with the public, families, and children

  • Effective and appropriate verbal communication

  • Public speaking experience, a plus

  • Interest and general knowledge of plants, a plus

  • Ability to work within a team and be self-motivating when working individually

  • Ability to take initiative and problem-solve

  • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Stand and/or sit for extended periods of time

  • Perform tasks in all weather conditions; temperatures may range from 45-100 F

  • Effective vision and hearing

  • Hand and arm dexterity

  • Walk and work on wet, uneven, slippery terrain.

  • Kneel, bend, stoop, grab, and reach.

  • Regular lifting and carrying of up to 35 lbs. and occasionally 45 lbs.
