JOB SUMMARY
The Training Specialist position at the DC Department of Motor Vehicles (DC DMV) is in the Office of Administrative Services and reports directly to the Associate Director of Administrative Services. Training Specialist is responsible for providing the full range of in-service training program activities, including the analysis and identification of training needs; the development of training plans and approaches; and the execution of the training program itself, i.e., content, other material and aids, and arrangements for conducting the training.
The incumbent in this position will be responsible for developing and facilitating training for DC DMV employees, which includes senior leaders, managers, supervisors, and front-line staff. The incumbent will determine training needs for the employees and incorporate them into DMV University, which is designed to offer employees courses year-round. The incumbent will also be responsible for the agency's yearly customer service training
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops reviews, and revises training material for coursework in accordance with the specific training objectives. Plans course content and references, addressing District and federal regulations and guidelines for use in training sessions for the agency staff.
Researches, develops, evaluates, and revises training curriculum to ensure required standards are maintained by the agency. Reviews and conducts research pertaining to the training material in each subject. Develops components of web-based training curricula, training assessments, surveys, and statistical reports to identify categories of training needs and services. Designs and develops desk guides, job aid training modules, workshops, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the individual with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, the incumbent must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.
A bachelor's degree is preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The work is performed primarily in a training room or office settings that is heated/cooled, lighted, ventilated, and involves everyday risks or discomfort.

Position Designation: This position is designated as Security Sensitive and therefore the incumbent of this position will be subject to enhanced suitability screening pursuant to Chapter 4 of DC personnel regulations, Suitability.
