JOB OVERVIEW

The training specialist role supports activities for training of salaried restaurant management and frontline personnel within Olive Garden Operations. This position will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of digital training online content materials. The Training Specialist will be responsible for analyzing and distributing all reporting and data associated with the online learning tool and training initiatives. The Training Specialist will own the onboarding process of all MIT/GMITs, originating from the HRIS record creation through the development of specialized training schedules, and all onboarding/training related evaluations.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Partners with training and learning design teams to implement innovations and updates to the online learning tool including content revisions and enhancements to new and existing programs

  • Analyze, monitor and report on training related metrics and key drivers used to influence training strategies around the onboarding process and the online learning tool.

  • Provides operations support surrounding questions and initiatives related to HRIS and TAS. This includes troubleshooting on potential system errors and performing root cause analysis on a needed basis.

  • Ensures a seamless and legally compliant onboarding experience for restaurant operations by initiating appropriate steps to complete pre-employment process. This includes the creation and initiation of all adverse action communications, distribution of hiring documents, and evaluating overall applicant experience.

  • Assists in all special projects and other duties as assigned.

Travel Requirements
5% - travel between local restaurants

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or 2+ years equivalent work experience in restaurant management or in human resources (preferable in training)

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Advanced computer skills in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook

  • Ability to learn and navigate in various Training and HR systems and platforms (i.e., Learning Management System, Applicant Tracking System, HRIS)

OTHER KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 2 years' expertise in training or related field

  • Ability to build strong relationships with operations clients and external vendors with an emphasis on guest focus and being of service

  • Demonstrates self-initiative and results orientation

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work well in a team environment with the ability to communicate under pressure and use tact when responding to applicants

  • Ability to work independently, as well with others, and handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to identify, analyze, and utilize resources to complete job accountabilities

  • Ability to effectively handle high volume of requests under strict deadlines

  • Ability to maintain composure in stressful environments

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Restaurant Management experience, especially at Darden restaurants

  • Previous experience with Cornerstone, SumTotal, IBM Kenexa/Brassring, PeopleSoft, and Articulate Storyline

  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus

This includes the delivery and facilitation of learning solutions encompassing product, compliance and job specific process knowledge; service and customer retention skills, knowledge of how to use and navigate various systems, tools, websites, etc., employees use daily on the job. This position primarily serves the Service Organization within Commercial Markets. Essential Functions: * Facilitate in person and virtual new hire, remedial, and refresher, and cross-training sessions on a variety of products, systems and job roles that support business area processes. * Based on working knowledge of performance objectives associated with multiple job roles, provide coaching and feedback to leadership on progress of an individual learner and / or a group on their ability to best apply knowledge, skills, tools and job processes. * Operating independently, provide feedback to the instructional design and development team regarding product content and skill adaptation enhancements aimed at increasing a learner's time to competency and overall performance. * Partner with instructional system design and development team to deliver pilot courses and provide feedback on instructional soundness of materials, including assessments. * Perform administrative responsibilities, such as student evaluations, daily attendance tracking, classroom surveys, technical troubleshooting in the classroom, and other duties as assigned. Requirements: * Bachelor's degree with 2 years of relevant facilitation and work experience or a combination of transferable experience and education defined as one of the following: o Minimum of 4 years of successful relevant facilitation and work experience. o Certified Training Assistant (CTA) with 3 years of relevant facilitation and work experience. Additional Required Qualifications: * Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theory & principles. * Working knowledge of instructional design process (i.e. ADDIE, RAPID) with ability to demonstrate practical application of principles. * Working knowledge of instructional design methods (Dick &Carey, MLRK, etc.) with ability to demonstrate practice application of methodology. * Seasoned written and verbal communication skills which includes demonstrated ability to facilitate training. * Ability to address non routine of requests and/or solve non routine business-related issues. * Ability to complete multiple assignments in a compressed timeframe. * Ability to work in a fluid environment where business and organizational direction changes occurs frequently. * Ability to interpret business related results into actionable items for individual growth and development. * Ability to quickly develop business relationships. * Ability to provide feedback to elevate the performance level of an individual or team. * Travel required Additional Preferred Qualifications: * Minimum of 2 years in customer service, billing and /or claims processing, preferably in a service role in a health insurance related organization. * 1 or more years of experience delivering training to front line managers and/or supervisors. * Knowledge of Florida Blue health and ancillary products and systems. * Industry recognized facilitator certification (i.e. ATD Certification, Achieve Global, etc.) General Physical Demands: Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.
