POSITION OVERVIEW:

This position will support the current and upcoming employee development programs and initiatives of the Performance Management division specifically for the Invest in People 2 - Talent Development goal: Create the framework for identifying training and knowledge needs to establish bench strength and continuity of team success in alignment with Aviation's Values of COMMITTED, FOCUSED, TOGETHER. The AUS Way!

The Training Specialists in Aviation's Performance Management Division will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering training curricula tailored for targeted audiences, utilizing adult learning principles and methodologies for various delivery methods such as eLearning, in-classroom training, and facilitation. Content development includes creating training program outlines, presentations, training manuals, job aids, handouts, and/or other relevant reference and supplemental materials, as requested. As well as evaluating the effectiveness of delivered training and materials by administering assessments and conducting post-training surveys, and analyzing data for improvement.

ASSESSMENT:

A skills assessment will be required for this position.

TRAVEL:

If you are selected for this position and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.

  • Experience researching, developing, delivering, and evaluating training courses utilizing adult learning principles and methodologies

  • Experience conducting needs assessments to determine training gaps and making recommendations for improvement

  • Experience establishing and building relationships with business partners to design/deliver necessary training where needed

  • Ability to design and create cutting-edge instructor and participant manuals and presentations

  • Strong classroom training and classroom management experience

  • Experience creating eLearning modules using Adobe Captivate or similar software

  • Experience creating, publishing and administering eLearning training courses utilizing a Learning Management System such as LMS365 or similar

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to problem solve, adapting to all levels of the organization

  • Ability to travel to more than one work location

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities

Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

  • Surveys various training techniques, materials, and commercial offerings to select the most appropriate process for the delivery of training.

  • Delivers targeted, audience-appropriate instructor-led training sessions.

  • Coordinates student and facility schedules for delivery of training, and maintains and prepares appropriate records of participation.

  • Develops written training materials, visual aids, and reference materials, including course curriculums.

  • Performs preproduction, production, and postproduction work on computer- and video- training materials that use computer and streaming audio-visual technologies for on-demand use.

  • Develops and administers assessments of staff skills for use in developing training strategies and curriculum, and effectiveness of delivery.

  • Conducts research or surveys to determine the effectiveness of training provided.
