The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry is seeking a Curriculum Design and Training Officer Supervisor to lead our professional training team. This management position involves supervising instructional designers and training officers, assessing training needs in collaboration with correctional staff, and overseeing the development and delivery of engaging, interactive courses. The supervisor will manage multiple projects, work with subject matter experts, and ensure the effective use of instructional technology while maintaining accurate training records within the State of Arizona Learning Management System. Additionally, this role emphasizes continuous improvement by leveraging feedback and data to enhance training practices, ultimately contributing to the professional development of our correctional workforce.
Job Duties:
Supervises and provides professional development in curriculum development
Supervises the research, development, maintenance, and evaluation of all curriculum (computer-based e-learning, classroom, and blended)
Researches, writes, edits, designs, and publishes training materials
Conducts formal and informal training
Leads, directs, and monitors curriculum development and projects
Problem solves to ensure time frames and deadlines are met
Facilitates curriculum development meetings and other training
Provides communications and networking between Staff Development and Prison Operations
Reviews newly developed curriculum for quality of content, grammar, instructional methodology and presentation for final approval
Establishes and maintains a system for regular review of existing curriculum to update or retire lesson plans
Uses the Learning Management Systems to assign curriculum course numbers to approved curriculum
Drives on State business to different institutions
Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

Selective Preference(s):
Bachelor's degree in management or related field
Minimum two (2) years of work experience in all phases of curriculum development preferably in a correctional environment
Knowledge of presentation software, e-learning and learning management systems
Pre-Employment Requirements:
Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation.
If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver's license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver's license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.
All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Retirement:
Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
