There is an opening for a Training Manager at Ellwood National Forge (ENF) based at the ENF-Irvine plant, however, from time to time maybe assigned to the ENF-Corry and/or ENF-Warren, PA plants. The position will report to the President.
The Training Manager will be responsible for coordinating all activities involved in developing, designing, and directing a skills-based metalworking training program that will result in qualified metalworking individuals and support personnel in an effort to provide an ongoing stream of qualified and certified metalworking operators for Ellwood National Forge.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Research existing programs of this nature, including those that are in progress at other metalworking organizations, professional organizations involved in providing services, tools, and course outlines (i.e. NIMS, Tooling University, National Tool and Machine Association, and local educational institutions and other industry programs as might be appropriate) to identify, assess, and recommend program options.
Coordinate, review and assist the Operations Team in the curriculum development process that would include:
Developing a list of core competencies
Translate the core competencies into an educational curriculum or checklist for each job
Identify resources required to implement which would be acquiring equipment, computers, texts, and other tools necessary for the hands-on training, computer-based training, and classroom training.
Develop operating guidelines for the equipment at each work center which would include:
Description of the machine,
Loading the part into the machine,
Operating the machine and
The tools required.
Write and provide Work Instructions that are Part Specific
Provide on the job training which includes:
Testing employee knowledge
Evaluate employee performance
In general, manage all administrative aspects of the skills development program. These would include but not necessarily be limited to:
Develop and present an annual budget,
Prepare class schedules and maintain recordkeeping for attendance, grades, and course completions by student,
Provide feedback reports to the appropriate level of management on student activities, progress, and special needs.
Prepare, implement, summarize, and present internal audits of instructors, course content, student proficiencies, etc. Such audits will form the basis of assuring Quality and Continuous Improvement.
Make recommendations to management in accordance with improved training procedures and equipment.
Abides by all policies and procedures established by the Company including plant safety regulations and work rules;
Must have ability and desire to work well with others;
Meets attendance requirements; and
Perform other duties as business needs necessitate.
Bachelor's degree or Equivalent Years of Experience relevant to the position
5 years' manufacturing experience; knowledge of the processes, products, and metalworking features that are performed at the Ellwood Irvine industrial complex would be a plus.
Previous training experience preferred;
Excellent writing skills; Ability to professionally communicate with a variety of levels of individuals, including making formal presentations;
High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Products.
Hands-on, working manager who is results oriented with a strong desire to succeed.
Well organized, analytical and detail oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently, yet able to follow instructions.
