Job Responsibilities

readySC is a part of the Economic Development Division of the South Carolina Technical College System. We promote workforce development by providing customized training for new and expanding industries in our state. The primary duty of the Training Instructor is to deliver classroom training per approved training curricula, according to project scope. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Facilitate classroom training on topics such as Safety, Leadership, Teambuilding, Communication, 5S and Lean Manufacturing, Train-the-Trainer, Basic Math, Basic Computer Skills, and Metric Conversions using various activities and visual aids such as graphs, charts, DVDs and PowerPoints.

  • Effective use of technology such as laptops and projectors for course delivery.

  • Prepare delivery/demonstrations, materials, and classroom setup prior to class start.

  • Ensure that CDC safety guidelines are followed by all participants.

  • Ensure proper documentation of all class paperwork and securely handle PII.

  • Create a positive, safe and supportive learning environment.

  • Establish interaction with and amongst participants.

  • Use a facilitative training method to engage participants and limit lecture content while maximizing learning.

  • Follow prescribed training curriculum.

  • Clearly explain and demonstrate technical skills and concepts.

  • Reinforce learning by making connections to training objectives and workplace applications.

  • Provide constructive feedback to participants in a professional and respectful manner.

  • Respectfully manage basic difficult behaviors in the classroom.

  • Strive to continuously improve classroom facilitation skills based on current best practices.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree and relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and relevant manufacturing experience and/or military training experience.

  • Previous experience delivering training in a classroom environment, preferably in

industry.

  • Candidates should be able to work independently, be self-directing, have good verbal and written skills, and be available for flexible training hours.

  • Familiarity with manufacturing production environments and curriculum development is

highly desirable.

  • Knowledge of adult learning theory.

  • Knowledge of industry standards and process improvement principles.

  • Highly competent facilitation, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  • Personal Computer skills in the major office applications, e.g. Word, Excel, PPT.

  • Able to provide own transportation to deliver training at multiple training sites.

VIEW JOBS 9/29/2022 12:00:00 AM 2022-12-28T00:00 <p>Job Responsibilities</p><p>With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.</p><p>This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, on the Crafts-Farrow Campus, 7901 Farrow Road, Columbia, SC 29203.</p><p>As a Training Coordinator I/Instructor, working under the Director of the General Education and Training Department, in the SCDMH Office of Education, Training and Research, you will support, plan, design, implement, and track employee trainings.</p><p>Responsibilities also includes but are not limited to:</p><ul><li><p>Maintain training records, including employee information data entry, communication with employees and communications with supervisors.</p></li><li><p>Coordinates training schedules.</p></li><li><p>Conducts training sessions for employees.</p></li><li><p>Markets training opportunities to employees.</p></li><li><p>Tracks and creates reports on outcomes of training.</p></li></ul><p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p><p>State Requirement: A bachelor's degree and relevant experience.</p><p>Agency Requirement: A master's degree and formal classroom teaching experience.</p><p>Note: If any Agency Requirements are listed above, applicants must also meet those requirements to be considered for the position.</p><p>Additional Comments</p><p>The selected candidate should have excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management, public speaking, problem-solving, leadership verbal communication and written skills. Proficiency in word processing and presentation software. Ability to operate media equipment such as smartboards, projectors and personal computers. At least five (5) years of work experience in private company or state agency. Previous work experience as a training coordinator, training facilitator or training/instructor. Knowledge of traditional and modern training methods and techniques.
