Job Mission

The Training and Development Technical Writer will assist in the development and implementation of key strategies associated with training, with a focus on creating and sustaining a comprehensive suite of training documentation, resources, and eLearning modules for the ASML San Diego Operations organization. As part of the Training & Development team, you will collaborate with management to ensure organization objectives are incorporated into training, monitor competency performance, and support the continuous enhancement of the Operation's organizational improvement initiatives and training programs.

Job Description

While reporting in the Planning & Logistics group, you will be supporting multiple departments within Operations such as; Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, Planning and Logistics, Environmental Health & Safety, Quality and Finance.

  • Develop and maintain training documentation, including but not limited to; Quick Reference Cards, Manuals, eLearning modules.

  • Notify the Training Project Lead of any discrepancies in the day-to-day execution of your duties

  • Perform Training Needs Analyses (TNA) to validate the effectiveness of training initiatives

  • Assist in the roll-out and evaluation of Competency Assessments

  • Assist in the management of organizational development programs for the San Diego Factory: Including but not limited to job rotation, competency development, MyLearning (LMS) system, and Onboarding, etc

  • Interfaces with engineering, technical support, manufacturing, field service, safety and other instructors in the Learning and Development Department to create and improve courses.

  • Working with the Training and Development team to develop and improve curriculum, lesson plans, and course materials

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the success and effectiveness of the Training and Development Program Lead

  • Proactively engage in professional development & growth opportunities in order to effectively support and advise other's

  • Manage projects end-to-end including scope, implementation, performance plan, execution, and reporting


Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent experience desired. 2+years direct work experience required.


  • Proven experience in developing Level 3&4 eLearning modules (Captivate experience referred)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience in developing technical training resources (Quick reference guides & manuals) for technical and system-based learning topics

  • Ability to create and deliver presentation to all levels of management

  • Ability to execute training coordination tasks in a timely manner and escalate as necessary to get help

  • Ability to build strong relationships and partners with co-workers to build trust and influence at multiple levels within the organization

  • Proven ability to lead teams and initiatives with direct and indirect authority

  • Ability to influence/negotiate through formal and informal networks

  • Analytical and project management skills

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and manage a variety of resources according to a detailed project plan

  • Ability to manage complex situations with diverse requirements with good judgment.

  • Skill with using a variety of computer applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, e-mail, LMS, and scheduling applications) required.

Personal skills

  • Experience in a technical environment preferred

  • Experience working in organizational and/or technical training environment required

  • Experience working in the semiconductor, manufacturing, or technical industries is a plus

  • Experience working in a world-wide organization with multiple global locations desired

Note: The role allows for telecommute. The candidate must currently live in the greater-San Diego area and be able to come into the San Diego office 1 – 2 days per week. Job Duties: * Exercise independent judgment while working on multiple projects of diverse scope will be key to successful performance of the task requirements associated with this position. * Involves direct contact with customers and fleet users, and demands performance that is both detail oriented and time critical. * Responsible for creating and preparing complex manuals and technical publications covering software, hardware, testing and various other technical areas in support of US Navy C4ISR systems. * Collection and organization of information; producing parts and systems illustrations using digital photography, three dimensional models, and/or line drawings * Working directly with the customer to achieve a product that meets the contractual expectations of all parties * Coordination with a logistics support team on final product deliverables. Deliverables include complete operation and administration manuals for hands-on equipment operation, Navy shipboard installation, and detailed troubleshooting procedures. Other deliverables include hardware and software installation and configuration guides, training materials, reports, standard operating procedures, and interactive electronic documents and collections of documents, all of which must meet military standards and customer documentation standards and requirements. * Manage multiple projects, priorities and inputs within a functionally matrixed organization with limited supervision. * Independently plan and schedule work activities to meet work product delivery dates. * Establish positive working relationships with highly technical subject matter experts to obtain data required for technical documentation development, as well as innovative research and problem solving abilities to research sources and identify and extract relevant data from a wide variety of organizations and data repositories. * Actively participate in technical and programmatic meetings to provide status and define technical documentation development requirements and milestones. * Submitting CSRs for ATIS testing, request TMIN information and processing docs to FI in TDMIS, reviewing ILS certs and determining TMs that are applicable, gathering logistics products based off ILS certs to create ILS CDs to support installs, responding to data calls, ordering nomenclature plates, proofing documents and SPAWAR cover sheets for Final Issue, applying APLs/XRIC to TMINs, updating SAILOR with documents that have been processed for Final Issue, and maintaining weekly reports for PMW 160 for documentation. Qualifications Required Education and Experience * Bachelors and three (3) years or more of related experience; Masters and one year of related experience * 2+ years of Technical Writing experience * US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance. Active DoD clearance are accepted. * Have specific, recent and extensive experience providing life cycle support and technical writing/editing or technical system support for US Navy C4ISR systems including ADNS, ISNS, CENTRIXS, CANES, and SCI Networks. * Need excellent attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and willingness to learn on the job, good written and verbal communication skills, ability to adjust to constantly changing priorities and tasks, and ability to travel (5-10% of year). * Experience being hands-on with equipment and validating/verifying procedures on hardware and software systems.
