Job Description:

We are currently looking for a dynamic individual to work as a Training and Development Specialist located in Port Neches, TX. The Training and Development Specialist is responsible for ensuring Port Neches associates are on-boarded effectively and that training programs implemented on-site enable associate performance, safe operations and regulatory compliance.

What will be expected from you?

  • Manages on-boarding process to ensure associates are effectively oriented to Huntsman and the Port Neches site. Ensures managers and other stakeholders are engaged to support on-boarding associates successfully to their new role. May deliver portions of orientation program or other site training programs.

  • Owns creation of training matrix for all positions in the plant. Collaborates with Subject Matter Experts at site to ensure alignment of training content with operational and regulatory needs.

  • Consults with internal clients, conducts need analysis to identify causes of performance gaps and identify solutions that address performance gaps (training or otherwise).

  • Consult with managers and supervisors to assess site capability, develop and implement plans to build technical, professional and leadership acumen.

  • Coordinates and implements certification and re-certification programs for Maintenance and salaried associates as appropriate.

  • Manages process to ensure all facility EHS (including HAZMAT, DOT, Texas Railroad Commission, Medical, TSCA, RCRA, fire extinguisher, etc.) training is completed.

  • Develop new training content and where appropriate incorporate into computer-based training programs.

  • Responsible to ensure all training records are maintained properly and participates in audit of training records as needed.

  • Participate in advisory capacity to local Community Colleges and High Schools to support educational programs that develop students for future careers in the chemical industry.

  • Collaborate with Learning and Development peers and Shared Services colleagues in Huntsman to ensure site needs are fully supported.

What are we looking for in the ideal Candidate?

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent training and comparable work experience.
  • 3 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing plant, construction or heavy equipment industry.
  • 3 years of experience as a training or instructional designer.

"This position will support Indorama Ventures Olefins and Oxides Businesses in Port Neches, Texas." Our Maintenance Training Coordinator, in coordination with the site Training & Development Coordinator, will define, develop, source, coordinate, and provide high-quality training utilizing best practice adult learning. You will support all craft (electrical, instrumentation, mechanical) maintenance associates in acquiring the knowledge and skills required to safely and efficiently perform their job that complies with all Federal and State regulations. This position is responsible for evaluating training needs; identify, develop and apply tools necessary to deliver training programs; monitor training progress and maintain training records; evaluate trainees and the training program; coordinate outside customer related training programs. This position will also develop, review, and support maintenance procedures, ensuring all procedure changes are communicated throughout the maintenance department. All work will be done using a systematic best practice approach for adult learning. What will be expected from you? * Pre-hire testing and skills demonstration which include: Define, develop, and coordinate testing to assess the level of skills and ability of job applicants for maintenance. * New Hire Assessment: Define, design, and coordinate all aspects of a skills-based demonstration testing program to assess new hire maintenance associates for identifying skill gaps. * Three-year PSM Refresher Training: Define, develop, coordinate, and deliver all aspects of a three PSM refresher training program. * New Technology Training: Liaise with equipment vendors, suppliers to help train mechanics on new equipment technology. * Operations' Training: Define, develop, coordinate, and provide all aspects of a training program to support an Operations free maintenance program. * Develop and maintain a 6-9-month milestone improvement plan, including goals and objectives for the maintenance training program. * Develop an on-site training facility. Acquire training aids such as simulators, equipment, and tools for the facility, and maintain them. * Choose appropriate tasks needed for job qualifications categorized by non-critical and PSM. * Develop curricula and plan course content and methods of instruction, and assessment criteria utilizing both hands-on and classroom assessments. * Prepare course teaching materials, visual aids, procedures, study materials, instructional software, exams, and simulators as required to facilitate practical training. * Assess and implement alternative methods of maintenance training delivery that result in cost-effective systems and achieve desired results. * Duties includes partnering with educational institutions and outside vendors/resources to optimize maintenance training and liaising with equipment vendors. * Develop processes/methods for capturing the knowledge base of experienced personnel and migrating skills to less skilled employees. * Develop annual and just-in-time training schedules. Schedule trainees release from operational units for training. * Assist and lead a classroom, field training sessions, and qualification processes. * Conduct refresher training courses, testing and skill demos, and remedial programs. * Present lectures and conduct discussions to increase students' knowledge and competence using visual aids, such as graphs, charts, videotapes, and slides. * Perform skills gap analysis and establish a training curriculum for each maintenance associate. * Implement systems to track training progress and documentation. Make sure they follow PSM, RMP, and ISO regulations. * Perform periodic evaluations of training programs to ensure that curriculums are current and accurate. Develop, track, and publish materials for training programs. * Participate in Preliminary and Pre-Start-Up Safety Reviews as required to conduct necessary training. * Participate in New Hire Orientation. * Develop, review, update, and maintain maintenance procedures for each area for both general and specialized equipment. * Conduct maintenance training programs for personnel and requiring a basic presentation on the plant's equipment and systems to support autonomous maintenance. * Ability to work extra hours if needed. If applicable, the ability to work overtime may be necessary to ensure the required staffing capacity to meet daily production. * Work collaboratively with team members with different backgrounds and perspectives. * Participates in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company. Participates in and completes company-required training programs.
