The Center for Literacy, Education & Employment (CLEE) is seeking to hire a full time Training Coordinator- Coordinator II. This position collaborates with the state funding agency, TN Department of Human Services/Division of Rehabilitation Services (TN DHS/DRS) to provide professional development services for state contractors, including community rehabilitation service agencies working to provide employment services for people with disabilities. This position develops and conducts training and provides technical assistance on an ongoing basis. The position covers multiple counties within the East region of the state. These services result in improved quality of employment services and increased competitive integrated employment outcomes for people with disabilities.


Orientation/Training for professionals new to the field of rehabilitation and employment services

  • Works with TN DHS/DRS staff and UT CLEE to develop innovative, introductory training required by TN DHS/DRS for community rehabilitation provider agencies contracted to serve this state agency.

  • Conducts training on a monthly basis for newly hired service providers to include information on the concepts, service components, and requirements associated with TN DHS/DRS employment services agreements.

  • Coordinates training schedules, secures venues, and works with TN DHS/DRS to invite approved contractors to participate in training sessions.

  • Reviews assigned field work and quizzes.

  • Maintains attendance records, issues certificates of completion, and collects training evaluations from participants.

Continuing Education Training for professionals in the field of rehabilitation and employment services

  • Works with TN DHS/DRS staff and UT CLEE, to develop and implement ongoing continuing education training for community rehabilitation service providers and TN DHS/DRS staff.

  • Conducts training on a monthly basis to enhance skill development and build best practices in the area of employment services.

  • Coordinates training schedules, secures venues, distributes invitations, documents attendance, and collects training evaluations from participants.

  • Collaborates with other agencies and resources to facilitate training presentations provided by other organizations.

  • Works with UT CLEE team members in developing and conducting on-line trainings.

Technical Assistance and other services

  • Provides ongoing technical assistance, consultation and subject matter expertise for community rehabilitation service providers in the East region of the state.

  • Assistance is provided through on-site visits, via telephone, and/or email communication.

  • Actively participates in community, state and national organizations involving stakeholders and customers in order to gain knowledge of current programs and to provide input on best practices in the field of disability employment.

  • Works with TN DHS/DRS on a regular basis to debrief, evaluate the success of the training, and plan new training topics.

    Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Qualifications include a minimum of a Bachelor's degree.

  • Basic knowledge of developing training curriculum

  • Good training and presentation skills

  • Good communication skills in relating to a variety of audiences and customers

  • A knowledge of a variety of disability types

  • Ability to work independently, multi-task and set priorities

  • Ability to use good judgement in making decisions while working independently; identify issues necessary to take to supervisor

  • Regional travel is required on a regular basis; periodically state travel is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of current best practices in providing employment services for people with disabilities

  • Knowledge of adult learning styles

  • Skills in using Microsoft Office software


  • Required two years of experience working with people who have disabilities

  • Required experience in a teaching or training role

  • Preferred background in providing employment services for people with disabilities
