Trainer (Based on Training Within Industry Methods)

Functions and Responsibilities

Maintain disciplines and ensure actual practices meet training expectations:

  • Ensure training methods are understood and sustained by auditing actual practices against standard Job Instruction methods.

  • Provide input and feedback to Master Trainers, Supervisors, and Process Techs regarding training needs and quality of training programs.

  • Ensure job instructions are kept current and accurately document "one best way."

Train employees in the instructor role:

  • Train instructors in creating and delivering job instructions.

  • Evaluate instructors to ensure training expectations are met and to oversee the professional development of the instructors.

  • Act as mentor, providing value-added expertise and support to instructors answering training questions and closing gaps in understanding in training methods.

Be a resource to area Supervisors to propagate training methodologies:

  • Evaluate performance indicators (Gross Margin; Yield; Flow; skill level) to ensure job instructions and training are being developed to improve performance and address gaps.

  • Support supervisors in creating and updating training timetables.

  • Maintains expertise in continuous improvement processes.

Required Experience

Qualifications

  • Two or more years of training experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment.

  • Self-starter with a strategic viewpoint and the ability to analyze issues and challenges as well as recommend solutions.

  • Strong customer service orientation.

  • Excellent communication, presentation and organization skills.

  • Proven ability to work with employees at all levels, including other instructors, subject matter experts, supervisors and senior management.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform in the classroom and shop floor and office areas.

  • Strong project management skills ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
