Responsible for assessing information, administering medications, and performing treatments in coordination with the resident's care plan and the facility's policies and procedures and state and federal regulations.
Essential Job Functions
Review all reports, orders, and resident information with nurse going off duty.
Prepare, administer, and chart medications according to established policy and procedure.
Administer PM medications after consultation with nurses.
Perform resident treatments as trained.
Refer residents needing assessment to a nurse who assumes that responsibility and deliver resident cares as needed.
Inform ordering person of any needed supplies.
Clean med carts and med rooms as needed.
Assist in the dining room during mealtime.
Maintain and process required documentation in an accurate and timely manner per policies and procedures for medication and treatments.
Record and report to a professional nurse regarding resident conditions, reactions to drugs and treatments, and significant events.
Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge responsibilities not related to assessment.
Refer family questions regarding resident's physician condition, medications, or behavior to the nurse in charge.
Do narcotic check and control drug count at shift change with on-coming and off-going nurse.
Perform duties while observing resident's rights, providing dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.
Maintain knowledge of facility policies and procedures, Resident Bill of Rights, and Vulnerable Adult Act.
Must be adaptable, flexible to changes, and able to prioritize and organize work efficiently to accomplish workload within time allotted.
Maintains positive relationships with key stakeholders such as residents, their families, staff, and the community.
Maintain a positive attitude in relation to customer service program.
Complies with established safety rules and regulations.
Promptly reports accidents, incidents, and unsafe and hazardous conditions/equipment to supervisor.
Abides by the facility's policies, procedures and practices.
Participates in and supports Quality efforts throughout the facility.
Attends meetings and mandatory in-services as designated.
Knowledge and adherence to safety/disaster preparedness plan.
All other duties as needed.
Current state registered nursing assistant certification.
Successful completion of TMA course and skills.
Experience in a care facility is preferred.
Ability to read, write, and speak English.
Must be able to relate professionally, positively, and cooperatively with residents, resident's families and employees.
Must possess basic computer skills, including software programs related to job duties.
Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.
Must meet all local health regulations and pass post-employment physical exam if required. This requirement also includes drug screening, criminal background investigation, and reference inquiry.
