Train Engineer

Overview:

Assist in the safe operation and maintenance of Steam Locomotives and other railroad equipment as required to support the activities of a large amusement facility.

How You'll Make A Difference:

• Safely operates a steam locomotive by learning and adhering to proper boiler and locomotive operation procedures and practices.

• Ensures guest safety by assisting guests with boarding, riding, and disembarking the locomotive and passenger cars. Learns, adheres to and enforces all train rider policies and procedures.

• Completes daily, weekly, monthly and annual inspection of railroad rolling stock, tracks and related equipment, providing documentation as required.

• Performs routine maintenance and lubricaiton of railroad rolling stock and other amusement equipment as required.

• Performs track work as assigned.

• Properly stabilizes equipment during unforeseen, emergency or unusual situations to ensure guest and employee safety.

• Under the direction of a mechanic, assists with various repairs and preventive maintenance duties as needed to maintain proper operation of equipment.

• Provides guest service according to Cedar Fair standards when serving the guests or working with subornitates, including initiating guest interactions, answering questions and giving directions.

• Maintains cleanliness and safety in assigned work areas and performs all duties in compliance with Cedar Fair Safety guidelines and requirements and reports all unsafe or unusual conditions to supervision.

We're Looking For:

• High School Diploma/GED

• At least 18 years of age

• Driver's License

• At least 6 months' experience in general mechanical maintenance, ride operations, or a closely related field.

• Sufficient physical stamina to withstand at least 8 hours of working in a hot and physically demanding environment.

• Demonstrable general mechanical aptitude and knowledge of common mechanical practices

• Ability to learn and understand the basic principles of steam boiler operation and be able to demonstrate this ability to supervision.

• Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs.

• Ability to pass a mandatory drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.

• Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
