Traffic Signs And Markings Aide

The City of Virginia Beach is hiring a Traffic Signs and Marking Aide to perform work activities including one or more of the following:

• Assist in the installation and maintenance of highway traffic signs.

• Assist with the fabrication of highway traffic signs using specialized equipment and machines.

• Assist with the installation and maintenance of roadway pavement markings using specialized equipment and machines.

• Assist in the installation and maintenance of work zone traffic control devices used for emergency detours and provide traffic control support during large Special Events.

• Assist in maintaining accurate records of inventory materials/supplies used to fill out daily work assignments.

• Assist in collection and maintenance of sign inventory data.

• Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as deemed by those duties described or less.

• Individual assignments will be deemed by the supervisor based on the current workloads and department needs.

This position is ALPHA 1 and is required to work in excess of their normally scheduled days/hours during all inclement weather (flooding, hurricanes & snow), and/or in response to short-term department needs and/or City- wide emergencies
