NOTE: This position is 9/80 flexible work schedule with a shift of 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. having every other Monday off. There is a requirement of working on-call, with a 3-week rotation expectation. The on-call shift will start at the end of your shift at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday for one full week, to the beginning of your shift the following week.
The City of Auburn Engineering department is looking for a talented Traffic Signal Technician to add to our team! In this position you will be trained to be responsible for maintaining, inspecting, testing, programming, installing, and repairing traffic signal control, communications, and other related equipment. This work is in a team environment and also independently. You will always be learning new skills as technology advances.
The City of Auburn is seeking a candidate who:
Primary Duties
In this role, you will:
Analyze and evaluate traffic signal operations according to established procedures; troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace malfunctioning traffic signal equipment on a routine and/or emergency basis.
Repair, replace, and install vehicle and pedestrian signal heads, emergency vehicle detectors, and related equipment on mastarms and mastarm poles utilizing an aerial manlift to heights of forty feet.
Safely operates a variety of equipment, machinery, and tools including, but not limited to, an aerial manlift truck, soldering iron, electronic test equipment, laptop and traffic signal pre-emption equipment.
Maintains practical knowledge of electronic technology and electrical safety standards; basic math; traffic signal recordkeeping techniques; traffic signal and construction standards.
Mandatory afterhours on-call rotation (every 3 weeks)

Minimum Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who have:
High School degree, or equivalent
Two years experience diagnosing and repairing traffic signal electronics and electrical
OR
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver's license.
Note: Must have valid flagger's card and work zone safety certificate or ability to obtain the same within six (6) months of employment.
