Dewberry is currently seeking an experienced Traffic Engineer for our Orlando, FL office. The successful candidate will have experience in traffic related engineering tasks, including work zone traffic control, signing and pavement markings, roadway lighting and traffic signals. Candidate will be part of the transportation design team involved in a wide variety of projects, from intersection improvements to limited access facilities.


Responsibilities include reviews, design and plans production for various traffic related tasks as noted above. The Traffic Engineer will also prepare design and cost estimates, monitor project schedules and meet with clients, as needed.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • BS in Civil Engineering or related.

  • Professional Engineer license is preferred, or ability to obtain.

  • 4-8 years of experience in traffic engineering.

  • Proficient with Microstation.

  • Working knowledge of FDOT Guidelines.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • ITS design a plus.

The candidate will perform traffic engineeringassignments such as traffic operational analysis, traffic microsimulationmodels, traffic forecasting, traffic impact analysis, drafting signal, signingand marking, lighting and ITS plans, etc. Applicant will be expected to workclosely with other members of the team and be flexible in meeting changingproject needs. Our office provides support for other Jacobs offices andregions, so there is potential opportunity for short-term travel and work onmajor, exciting projects across the USA and internationally. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: * Perform traffic tasksincluding data collection, traffic analysis, reviewing and compiling resultsand writing technical reports * Perform civil designcalculations, sketches, drawings, technical comparisons and similar technicalwork as required by assignments * Use computer-assistedengineering and design software and equipment, traffic analysis and simulationsoftware, and other office production software to perform engineering tasks * Maintain effectivecommunication with project team members * Develop and evaluatedesign options and document findings for Project Traffic Engineers and/orProject Managers * Coordinate projectassignments with those of other engineers and technicians * May attend kick-off anddesign review meetings, and interacts with clients as their level of experienceprogresses * BS in Civil Engineering is required * EIT certificate is preferred. * 0 to 5 years of traffic engineering experience Familiarity with HCM, Synchro, MUTCD and HSM is preferred * Project experience including Synchro and VISSIM is preferred. Demonstrated experience with preparation of plans, specification and estimates to state and local standards is preferred * Experience in conducting traffic engineering projects such as signal timing, signing, striping, and signal design, construction traffic control, traffic impact studies, safety studies, corridor plans, operations analysis, multi-modal studies, etc. is preferred * Experience with design software (i.e., AutoCAD, MicroStation, InRoads etc.) and its application in roadway, highway, intersection and interchange design is preferred #BIA At Jacobs, we help prepare people for new opportunities and challenges.
