Felsburg Holt & Ullevig is looking for a full-time transportation engineer in our Greenwood Village office. The candidate for this engineering position will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of transportation-related design projects and will primarily work under the direction of a senior project manager. There will also be opportunities for the candidate to work independently and manage smaller transportation projects to gain experience with project management and client interaction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following:

  •  Works on design and plan production for varying-sized civil engineering projects with a focus on transportation related improvements to roadways, intersections, and multi-modal facilities.
  • Develops design plans for roadway signing, striping, and traffic signal related improvements.
  • Develops and/or assists in the development of construction traffic control and phasing plans.
  • Uses computer-aided design software to prepare engineering design plans and documents, including the use of both AutoCAD Civil3D and OpenRoads Designer.
  • Uses specialized design software for preparing layouts of custom roadway traffic signs.
  • Assists with the preparation of design criteria, details, specifications, opinions of probable costs, and technical reports for projects.
  • Assists with any needed data collection, field investigation, technical analyses, and written documentation for projects.
  • Coordinates with other design disciplines and professionals associated with a project, including survey, roadway, structures, drainage/hydraulics, landscaping, streetscaping, lighting, utilities, and environmental.
  • Assists in preparing work-hour estimates and scope of works for proposed design projects.
  • Responsible for working on several projects at any one time and adhering to project schedules.
  • Instructs and assists designers/technicians with design and construction document production.
  • Responsible for job-specific quality control tasks as defined in our quality manual.
  • Mentor other junior and/or entry-level Engineers and Designers with design related work.

Requirements

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year college or university required.
  • 5 to 10 years of Transportation Engineering experience including but not limited to roadway, highway, interchange, and equivalent transportation design engineering.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer, and/or MicroStation.
  • Familiar with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices and other transportation related design guidelines, criteria, and documents.
  • Experience in development of roadway plans, specifications, and opinions of probable costs.
  • Ability to multi-task several projects at one time while staying on budget and on schedule.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports and business correspondence with Microsoft Office type applications.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Engineer Intern (EI) Certification is required.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License in the State of Colorado is strongly recommended, or ability to obtain.

The pay for this position has a range of $90,000 - $105,000 annually. The actual offer will carefully consider a range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, and experience.
