SUMMARY
Under general direction, this position works with the traffic counting program for the City of Amarillo and Federal Highway Administration and is partially responsible for the collection, compilation, and analysis of all traffic volume data. This position also handles citizen requests and complaints concerning sight restrictions, traffic signs and pavement markings.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Takes citizen complaints and requests by phone, email or in writing dealing with Traffic Operations; and responds to the complaints or requests in a timely manner.
Daily reports, time sheets and transferring all information to computer program
Trim trees according to Sight Restriction Program
Sets traffic counters for all counts
Pick up and deliver speed trailer as assigned
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent. Must be enrolled in college courses. Experience in using computers and related software applications is preferred. A valid Texas driver's license is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES.
Ability to use a computer for work processing and spreadsheet purposes.
Thorough understanding of general office and filing procedures
Ability to exercise professional telephone etiquette and take accurate messages.
Ability to write legibly.
Ability to review Traffic accidents
Ability to operate standard office equipment including a calculator, copier, and multi-line telephone system.
Ability to perform multiple tasks accurately and efficiently on a consistent basis.
Ability to handle stress due to heavy telephone and radio interruptions, irate public calls, and emergency situations.
Ability to use a traffic counter and radar gun.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Hours will be set by school schedule. Required to work in all weather condition, in and around traffic. This is a part time position, not eligible for benefits.
