Traffic Construction Worker II

Performs skilled work in the installation and maintenance of traffic control devices and in the operation of complex equipment; may be assigned to act as a lead worker. Work involves building foundations and setting concrete/wood signal poles, stringing and wiring overhead cables, hanging signal heads and pouring concrete. Installs pedestrian signal heads on concrete poles/free-standing bases, street lights on concrete poles, vehicle detector loops in roadways, controller boxes, overhead traffic control signs, underground conduit to accept wires/cables and incoming electrical service to power the intersection.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of two (2) years of experience in traffic construction or closely related.

Necessary Special Requirement: Must obtain a FL Class A CDL License with Air Brakes and Tanker Endorsements within 12 months of hire.

PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE: Acting as lead worker over a crew; assembling/installing/maintaining traffic signal devices; installing concrete traffic signal poles; operating cranes, auger derrick/aerial bucket trucks.

Also desirable: Current valid FL Class A CDL with Air Brakes and Tanker Endorsements.

SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION SUBJECT TO RANDOM DRUG TESTING. Must be able to lift 75 pounds.

Valid FL Class A CDL Permit with Air Brakes and Tanker Endorsements at time of application and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment. Hearing Loss Test required for selected candidate.
