The role:

We are looking for a professional engineer to join our traffic design unit! As a traffic analyst (construction), you will work in a team in developing the traffic engineering data requirements for transportation improvement projects and planning studies. A day in the life:

  • Perform the technical traffic engineering analysis on Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) projects required by the Region's project development process, and assign work and review it for technical accuracy and application.

  • Perform multifaceted traffic engineering, transportation system and freeway operations and capacity analyses on major projects and assist with construction staging and traffic control.

  • Perform transportation planning studies utilizing the regional VISUM Travel Demand Forecast Model.

  • Conduct technical review of transportation studies for highway improvement projects to ensure compatibility of project development with operational efficiency and safety of the state highways.

  • Provide traffic control design and permanent pavement marking support during ODOT construction, maintenance, and repair projects.

  • Independently designs and prepares plans, specifications and cost estimates for temporary traffic control and permanent pavement marking on large, multi-staged and complex construction projects throughout the state. Utilizes CADD terminal for design and drafting functions.

  • Hybrid work option available. Requires occasional overnight travel may be required. Occasional fieldwork can involve exposure to heavy traffic, sometimes at night.

Minimum qualifications:

A valid professional engineer's (PE) license in civil, structural, or transportation-related engineering.

NOTE: If registered in another state, successful applicants will be required to obtain comity within six months of hire.

Special qualifications:

Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
