Under the general direction of the designated supervisor, incumbent performs complex level repairs and installations in a specific trade. Assists and/or oversees maintenance of equipment and systems in assigned areas. Incumbent will be expected to have thorough knowledge in the discipline(s) for which they will be responsible. This job has no supervisory responsibilities.


  • Performs skilled to highly skilled trades work in area assigned

  • Performs general maintenance tasks

  • Performs skilled installation and repair/modification, site layout, troubleshooting, diagnostics within assigned trades.

  • Operates various manual and electrical tools in the performance of tasks

  • Under the direction of the designated supervisor, designs and implements preventive maintenance programs to ensure compliance with sanitary and health codes.

  • Clean and repair equipment as needed

  • Participates in on-call duty.

  • May be required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of assigned tasks.

  • This position requires regular and reliable attendance and the employee's physical presence at the workplace

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

When Assigned to Facilities Management:

  • May assist in general maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, hanging pictures, filter changes, patching and painting of the exterior and interior of buildings as needed.

  • Assist Facilities Management Electrician in all aspects of related electrical work.

  • Responsible for complex plumbing, electrical, carpentry and HVAC repairs/maintenance.

  • Assist in the repair and maintenance of city facilities.

  • May repair pumps and motors.

  • May be responsible to lead a crew


  • Working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of equipment required for assigned task

  • Knowledgeable in the occupational hazards, safety precautions and personal protective equipment observed in the trade(s) assigned.

  • Knowledgeable in the City and State rules, regulations and protocols.

  • Knowledgeable in general housekeeping practices

  • Knowledgeable in basic report and record maintenance principles and practices.

  • Skilled in the efficient and safe operation of trade specific tools and equipment.

  • Skilled in troubleshooting and repair within assigned trade(s).

  • Skilled in prioritization, organization, time management, and attention to detail.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

  • Ability to adapt to performing under frequent deadlines and/or in response to emergencies.

  • Ability to operate vehicles and necessary equipment including but not limited to hand tools.

  • Ability to apply sound judgment and interpretation based on acquired knowledge in circumstances where limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to adapt to performing under frequent deadlines and/ or in response to emergencies.

  • Ability to receive and understand oral and written directions.

  • Ability to recognize and address common safety issues in the field

  • Ability to detect improper functioning mechanical systems

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED. Experience, and/or training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities can be substituted for the High School diploma or GED.

  • Requires a minimum of five years of experience in related field

  • Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.

  • Visual Acuity 5 -close acuity for inspection of small defects, machines, use measurement devices, or fabricate parts.

  • Walking - on foot to accomplish tasks, long distances, or site to site.

  • Pulling - use upper extremities to exert force, haul or tug.

Work performed is primarily:

  • Very heavy work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.


  • Tasks are performed outside, subject to weather conditions and uneven terrain, and risk of exposure to toxic agents/chemicals, pathogens, and smoke.

  • Contact with internal and external customers, vendors and the general public

  • Ability to perform strenuous work in varying and adverse weather conditions.

  • Must have the ability to work after hours, including nights, weekends, holidays and during emergencies.

  • May be required to work hours other than the regular schedule including on call hours

Other duties may be assigned. * Bills Facilities, Hospitals and Hospice on a regular basis * Works off of the insurance aging report for facilities, Hospitals and Hospice * Calling and writing the individual facility, Hospital or Hospice whose balances are past due and following through with any research, re-filing, etc. that needs to be done to obtain maximum payment * Assist collectors in all areas related to facility collections. This includes but not limited to training collectors, follow-up with facilities, internal communication, identify and implement process improvements, etc. * Acting as the company liaison for all contact with facilities, hospitals and hospice accounts for charges due * Coordinating with company financial managers and administrators for contracting or collection needs * Contacting insurance companies by telephone as needed in an attempt to determine patient eligibility or the need for the transfer of charges * Invoicing hospital charges and submitting for payment * AR Reporting for aging facility, Hospital or Hospice accounts on a monthly basis * Maintaining contract information for billing purposes * Adjusting charges per contractual guidelines as needed. * Assisting with researching SNF information, including dates of stay for AR purposes * Providing information as needed to the Medical systems management staff for new Facility, Hospital or Hospice plan set up * Coordinating individual patient accounts with other collections staff as needed. * Ability to effectively communicate payment requirements for hard-to-pay accounts, per MCR guidelines.
