Advertised Job Summary

Trades Specialist IV (General Maintenance Tech II), Minimum Salary: $37,735 per year, USC Aiken Housing

Under the direct supervision of Maintenance Supervisor, performs trade related duties to accomplish facilities/equipment/preventive maintenance, installations, construction and renovation tasks. While under the direct supervision of the maintenance supervisor, this position must be able to work independently and with limited supervision and work harmoniously with others.

Normal work hours are 40 hours per week but overtime will be required at times, some scheduled and some not. Position will be placed on a rotational "on-call" (after hours) work. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities needed:

Ability to use tools, equipment and materials used in general building maintenance and construction trades applicable to the job; Knowledge of and ability to use techniques, methods and practices in the Trade Worker Field; Ability to perform manual labor. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Minimum requirements:

Accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program and 2 or more years of experience; or High School diploma and 4 years of experience; and must hold valid driver's license.Application deadline: July 18, 2024. Job Duties

Job Duty

Performs a variety of preventive/corrective maintenance work on HVAC systems including fan coil units, exhaust fans, motor, pumps, changing filters, cleaning and greasing as required.

Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 15 Job Duty

Assists Supervisor in skilled labor, minor repairs and maintenance on buildings such as installing glass, patching floor covering and sheetrock, simple framing with metal or wood, building concrete forms and the replacement/repair of doors, windows, and locks.

Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 10 Job Duty

Performs minor repairs and maintenance on buildings such as plumbing repairs, minor electrical repairs, patching floor covering and sheetrock, and the replacement/repair of doors, windows, and locks.

Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 10 Job Duty

Performs routine repairs, installations, construction and renovation tasks in areas such as carpentry, masonry, electrical, plumbing, locksmith (including cutting keys and managing key room), etc. Maintain and record all Material Data Safety Sheets of chemicals used by the Housing staff.

Performs/assists with a variety of preventive/corrective maintenance work and repairs on electrical units (i.e. fixtures, circuits, motors, wiring, etc.), appliances, card access, security gates and fire alarm systems.

Maintain and repair all of Housing HVAC units (over 200 units) and Energy Recovery and Ventilation units (3).

Performs preventive/corrective maintenance on small engines.
