Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

Under limited supervision, performs skilled tasks relating to University-wide locksmith functions including daily operations; maintenance of the University's lock system, door hardware and special security devices; re-keying support of campus departments; and development of key schedules. Performs duties as a lead worker and assumes responsibilities of the supervisor in his or her absence.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

High school diploma and 5 years directly related trade experience. Driver's license required.

Preferred Qualifications

High School diploma and five yeas related experience including knowledge of various locksmith procedures.


Knowledge of various locksmith procedures. Ability to read and understand blueprints. Ability to develop and maintain positive customer relationships with University staff, faculty, and general public.

All responsibilities are carried out under the supervision of a pharmacist. Must possess specialized skills relating to the provision of the service or operation. Also may assist the pharmacist in performing a variety of technical duties related to the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients including unique tasks consistent with technician certification status requirement. Complies with laws and regulations of appropriate state and federal agencies and guidelines of JCAHO. All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Palmetto Health's values of compassion, dignity, excellence, integrity, and teamwork. Responsibilities: Exhibits good interpersonal skills in interacting with supervisors, peers, and others outside pharmacy. Responsible for developing and maintaining training materials for specialized service. Provides training and participates in the in servicing of departmental employees and students regarding unique aspects of the service or operation. Obtains supplies, prepares and labels drug orders under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. Calculates and compounds aliquot doses. Distributes and/or transports medications to appropriate patient care areas in a timely manner and under a pharmacist's supervision. Serves as a resource in a specialized area to ensure that the service operates as efficiently and effectively as possible. Performs other duties as assigned. Receives and/or initiates verbal medication orders and checks another technician's refill of medications and/or repackaging of medications from bulk to unit dose if authorized to do so by his/her supervising pharmacist. Evaluates activities of specialized service, assesses situation or problem, researches additional information if necessary, analyzes the information, and makes an appropriate, informed recommendation for improvement. Serves as a good steward of the institution's resources, including time on the job. Evaluates area of specialized services and provides recommendations for changes in policies and procedures, and opportunities for growth. Requirements: Education: Completion of a pharmacy technician training program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Experience: 5 years pharmacy related experience (hospital preferred) including 1 year experience working in a specialized area of pharmacy service PREFERRED. Licensure, Registry or Certification Required: Current registration with SC Board of Pharmacy as a state certified pharmacy technician; (certified technicians will have passed the National Technician Certification Board exam or a SC Board of Pharmacy approved exam AND must maintain current certification status). Special Training: Must have thorough knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology; possess good mathematical skills; possess problem-solving abilities; able to work in team situations; able to handle urgent, stressful situations; Corporate and departmental mandatory training required annually: must have thorough knowledge of National, State, and Corporate regulations and standards; must complete departmental training for specialized duties.
