The Department of Water Resources takes pride in stewardship of the environmental resources entrusted to us and pledges to be responsible as we manage water as a limited, but renewable resource.

Duties for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Expertise in construction methods, repair techniques, inspection methods, and operations of the department's sewer collection and storm drain systems.

  • Program oversight of maintenance, rehabilitation, and work prioritization on gravity mains, storm drains, and accessories

  • Monitoring staff assignments within the workgroup to ensure efficient and uninterrupted operations

  • Serve as primary contact for emergency or planned repairs outside of regular business hours

  • Analyses of data to support operational, monthly, and annual reporting.

  • Effective staff management to include supervision of staff, annual appraisals, staffing requests, and recommendations on hiring and corrective actions.

  • Assist in development and management of work-group budgets.

  • Coordinate vehicle maintenance to minimize down-time and reactive maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, or G.E.D.

  • Eight years of related work experience, including three years of supervisory experience.

  • or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

  • Licensing Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license in state of residency.

  • Must have certification as Georgia Wastewater Collection System Operator, Georgia Distribution System Operator, and NASSCO Pipeline Assessment Certification Program (PACP), or must obtain these certifications within 12 months.

This position must be available 24/7 and respond quickly to emergencies.

This class is responsible for supervising lower staff, overseeing multiple teams of workers, inspecting work, developing plans, and performing related administrative work.. Responsibilities will include the coordination and prioritization of work orders to ensure repairs are scheduled efficiently. The position will also oversee the work of outside contractors who may be on-site at a DWR facility to perform repair work outside the scope of in-house crews. . This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Gwinnett County Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace. The grade for this position is B32(3) with a starting salary of $48,792. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a supervisory position in industrial equipment maintenance. A complete understanding of the functions of Facilities Maintenance and preventative maintenance ofwater or wastewater treatment plant equipment.The completion of a training program or apprenticeship in the mechanical or electrical trades,experience in the repair of water or wastewater treatment plant equipment, or a related field, a basic understanding electrical safety in an industrial plant, and experience in planning and scheduling work in addition to experience working with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS): The ideal candidate will have a proven track record demonstrating the following skills and critical attributes: * Excellent interpersonal skills * Ability to work with all staff levels, peers, and the public. * Effective in communicating in multiple modalities (written, verbal, non-verbal) with staff and the public. * Leadership skills with the ability to effectively coach, train, and mentor individuals and groups * Effectively and efficiently plan, organize, and direct/oversee the work of personnel. * Principles of supervision and performance measurements. Minimum Requirements: * High School Diploma, or G.E.D.; * Six years of related work experience, including two years of supervisory experience; * Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above; * Valid Driver's License from state of residency. * Valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) (must be attached to application for consideration); * Water Distribution License.
