The position is responsible for assisting intellectual property counsel and trademark manager with the preparation and submission of trademark documents in connection with the filing and prosecution of trademark applications in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
The position also maintains an electronic intellectual property docketing system to track deadlines and manage the company's intellectual property assets and prepares correspondence to affiliates and outside legal counsel in order to minimize the amount of attorney time required for such efforts. The position also assists IP counsel and trademark manager with ensuring that Roche respects the intellectual property rights of third parties through trademark clearance activities. Completes special projects as requested.

Requires some evaluation, originality or ingenuity. Work is varied and may be somewhat difficult in nature but usually involves limited responsibility. Contributes independently or with a team towards a program or department goal or service. Interfaces with internal customers and departments.
Responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the quality system and achieving quality objectives through daily actions.
1.Prepare trademark registration applications and related legal documents for filing in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
2.Prepare, send and receive correspondence to and from internal marketing clients relating to trademark maintenance.
3.Maintain department's IP electronic document management system for the storage and retrieval of trademark application/registration, assignment, co-existence, agreement and enforcement records.
4.File pre-registration and post-registration papers approved by U.S. Attorney or Trademark Manager.
5.Maintain electronic trademark docket system. Generate reports relating to USPTO deadlines and US clearance and conflict cases.
6.Review, monitor and update US weekly trademark watch system to identify potentially conflicting marks for opposition.
7.Assist in monitoring company-wide trademark compliance through electronic and hardcopy content approval systems
8.Conduct preliminary trademark searches to identify potential knock-out references.
Who you are:
Minimum 3 years experience as a general legal administrator or other administrative experience.
Minimum 2 years experience as an intellectual property law administrator.
Knowledge and expertise regarding substantive and procedural intellectual property law including U.S. Patent & Trademark Office rules and procedures.
Good organizational and computer skills.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and work independently.
